Using 2 offensive or defensive sets Topic

Ive always ran 1 set and used 20 minutes on offense and 20 on defense. I wondered if I could run like Triangle and Flex 15/15 and put just 15 into my defense. Which would be 45 practice minutes. I wondered if my teams IQ would be that different. I know work ethic plays a part, but I figure 15 a set would be enough. Any suggestions or idea??

All your underclassmen in your two teams don't have great GPA or WE.

Edit-Bolen and Burdrick would do okay.

Ive heard growth is practice minutes*HS GPA*WE

For my two cents, I really don't see any difference in motion, flex or triangle in the engine, so I would see zero purpose in running multiple offensive sets. The only benefit to doing so that I can see would be if there was evidence that a particular offensive set fared better against a specific defense, allowing you to change and gain an advantage.

But I've been here since '09 and I don't remember ever hearing someone theorize something along the lines of "flex is better against man" or "motion is better against the press" than other offensive sets.

I could see maybe a token argument to devoting some minutes to fast break, just to have it available as an option to shift into if you're trailing late in a game, but on balance I think the minutes are better served in individual development and getting players to their caps in the core categories faster.

I'm in agreement with rednu here. Now with that said, my records drastically improved when I switched from Zone to M2M, but I think my recruiting improved as well.

Yeah, to be clear I was speaking only to multiple offensive sets. I know several (myself included, once upon a time) who have given minutes to multiple defensive sets for the flexibility it provided in various game situations and against various opponents. I think the strategic arguments for doing multiple D's are on far more solid ground than going multiple offensive sets with regard from how the engine treats each one.
