In the abstract, it isn't illegal for the President to ask the FBI to drop an investigation. It could rise to the level of obstruction if the investigation is related to the President and there is a pattern of attempts to obstruct--asking Comey for loyalty, asking Comey to drop the investigation, firing Comey for not dropping the investigation, asking Coates and Rogers to intervene in the investigation.

So yes.... The president is allowed by law to ask the FBI to drop an investigation.

To me, it just breaks down into some syllogisms.

If Trump ORDERED Comey to drop the investigation, it's a crime
Trump ASKED Comey to drop the investigation (by Comey's own testimony)
Therefore, it's not a crime

If a President is proven to have committed a crime, he can be impeached
Trump has NOT been proven to commit a crime re: Comey investigation (yet)
Therefore, Trump can't be impeached (for this)

i dont understand why you say nothing can be proved...the facts can be proved...it is up to mueller as to whether the facts that he accepts show obstruction.....like judges do...it will come down to his judgement...it is not a lack of evidence issue.....on comey's allegations there is corroborating evidence and circumstantial evedence and direct evidence.

it would be your opinion but from supporting facts and evidence others could draw the same conclusion.......comey laid out facts which can be accepted or not accepted...there is corroborating evidence....circumstantial.......and direct evidence including admissions of certain facts by trump.
