Who decides which opinions should always be met with disdain? Are you the arbiter of that?
I don't know who decides, but you agree that those exist, right?
I'll agree that this discussion has gone off track from where is started, as once again, you try to deflect discussions that are not going your way down a rat hole.

It started by my pointing out that the left is just as guilty as the right of trying to force their belief system onto others.

You argue "no they, don't", but every attempt to back that up ends up being an example of you insisting that your/the lefts interpretation of issue "x" is correct, and that anybody who disagrees is wrong. The underlying theme of which is "if you want to be on the correct side, then you need to believe what we believe. If you don't, you're a bad person or you're just stupid".

Which is just a tactic to try to force your belief system onto others.

Are we done here?
Again, you can believe whatever you want. No one says you have to believe anything. But if you choose to voice your belief, other people get to voice their response to your belief. It goes both ways.

Allowing gays to marry does not impact your beliefs. You aren't gay. You aren't going to get gay married. You aren't going to be prevented from remaining in a heterosexual marriage. Nothing changes for you. Nothing has been forced on you.
Let's play that game, since you insist.

Banning abortion does not impact your beliefs. You're not a woman. You're physically incapable of getting pregnant, therefore you're never going to have an abortion. Nothing changes for you if abortion is banned in this country. Nothing has been forced on you.

You good with that?
That ban could still impact me, though. If my wife gets pregnant and wants to abort, her not being able to will directly impact my life.
Wear a rubber.

Will you fight to change a law that will require me to be stupid? Because, for now, that's just your opinion. When you force it to happen, yep, you're forcing your beliefs on me.
What are you being required to do when SSM became legal?
Me? Nothing. I don't give a ****. But, if I was all "The institution of marriage is being bastardized. Marriage was created for a MAN and a WOMAN!!!", I'd be required to accept that all I've held near and dear about marriage is no longer valid.
You would not be required to accept that all you've held near and dear about marriage is no longer valid. Who would require that? How would they enforce it?

That isn't the law. The law allows gays to marry if they want to. The law forces nothing.
That law forces everything. Walk into the grocery, grab some steaks and walk out. Then tell me how the law forces nothing when you're arrested.

The law forces people to accept that marriage is no longer man/woman. Their belief system has been broken.

Trust me, there are several people here who will change their vote just so you can't procreate.

Where does it force you to accept that? What is the legal penalty for not accepting that?
Have we reached the point where you're telling people what they believe is not affected? That Bob and Joe getting hitched does not affect their belief system?

We've reached the point where you're going to have to show exactly how other people getting married forces you to do or believe anything. Because, so far, no one has.

People that think gay marriage is a sin can continue to think gay marriage is a sin. They aren't being forced to think anything.
"Marriage is for a man and a woman."

"Uh, the laws changed, grandpa. Same sexes can marry. What you believe is ******. The law says so."

And if grandpa still believes that a true marriage is only between a man and a woman, how long will he go to jail?
Then, when grandpa says "That's ******* bullshit", Junior says "You intolerant bastard!!! Why can't you accept that times have changed!??!?!?" and grandpa is either FORCED to accept SSM or FORCED into being called an intolerant bastard.

Here's a question: If people didn't think SSM was being FORCED into law, why did it take so long to be legalized?
