Signing More Guys? UPDATE: SOLVED (BRAINFART) Topic

Just curious.
What happens if a team has 4 open roster spots, and signs 6 recruits, and the team doesn't rescind any additional scholarships?

Does HD just sign the first 4 HS kids that had committed? Or is it a random choice? Or are you forced to cut current players?

You can't sign 6 recruits if you only have 4 spots. If they all sign during the same exact cycle then I believe they will randomly choose 4 out of the 6 with offers out.

Your sentence is a little confusing "Does HD just sign the first 4 HS kids that had committed?". Signing and committing are the same thing in HD.

Which leads to other questions...

If a team has finished recruiting and has filled its roster spots, and wanted to hassle rival teams, could they signed several extra guys to keep them off the board?

Also, can a recruit sign if he doesn't get his interest up to High? What if the final signing cycle arrives, and though you're the only team to offer a scholarship to a player, your team is only at Moderate (because a Big Six with tons of money left has maintained a player at Very High, while a limited-resource team can't break into the High category)... would the kid sign at Moderate?

The extra signings will remove these recruits from the player pool though...?

I think you're misunderstanding how it works. You can't sign guys unless you have spots. So for someone to hassle other teams, he'd have to cut players BEFORE signing 'extra' players. You can, however, remain at VH and keep others below High to prevent signing UNTIL the very last cycle of recruiting. At this point, the player will look for any qualifying VH or H offers (must have scholly offered and must have a roster spot). If there are none, then it goes to Moderate and looks for the same thing. Then Low. Then VL.

No. You're using the term "sign" incorrectly. There are no "extra signings."

If you see a player that says "Signed by XXXXX" then that means they had enough open spots and the player is now theirs. If the team has zero openings, they CAN'T sign a player. It's impossible. Or at least it should be... in which case this is a huge bug.

Ok, a team in Naismith has 4 open slots, and he accidentally has signed 6 players. These 6 guys are now off the board. He can still rescind scholarships to open up the slots, but i don't think he'd want to do that.

Link to team?

The owner is new to my Ivy League conference in Naismith and seems like a really really great guy, and he did it accidentally so that he could fill his sucky Cornell roster. So please don't hammer him on this potential HD bug.

I'm on my phone so can't easily link to his team, but it's Naismith Cornell in D-1.

Looks like he had 7 openings. 3 seniors are about to roll off his roster. What am I missing?

Yeah you're just confused on this one npb. Nothing weird about this one.

Wow, I'm losing my mind. Yes, you're right. He mentioned "over-offering" in our Coaches Corner and I didn't think this through.
I'll delete this thread in a few minutes.

Thanks guys.
