It probably doesn't help that we hijack every thread with the "let's diagnose what's wrong with the game" discussion. I wish we had one dedicated thread for it that couldn't get deleted.
Agreed! I understand the need to vent, but maybe that all deserves it's own thread or set of threads on the forum
Maybe WIS will pin a thread to the top where we can complain :)

On the state of the forums topic - yeah it's not great. I remember we had someone get criticized for asking for help and one poster thought he was 'too good' to be asking for help. Probably not good for a noob to see.

IIRC, the question was prompted because he didn't think he was winning by enough. How silly is that?

IIRC he was projected to make the PIT, not the NT and wanted to know what he was doing wrong.

You don't recall correctly. He like 19-2 and complained that he wasn't winning by enough. To me it appeared to be a "LOOK AT ME!!!" thread. Which is fine but let's not dress it up as something else. For instance....

I just won my 9th WS in HBD but I'm really struggling with the FB offense at Lander. Any ideas?

You see what I did was give myself a hearty pat on the back for HBD success but played a question about HD into it.

You are incorrect sir.

He was going to go the PI.

When you are beating sim teams by single digits and on the end of the bubble, there must be something that can be done to make your team better. That was all, end of topic lol. I don't ask much in here, but when I do it tends to be for a purpose. I haven't won an NT fwiw; not a pro.

No matter the intention or level , I think these forums should be a place that players can ask for help without ridicule. As an examply, I'm a pretty established/experienced coach, but only won titles/made deep playoff runs using motion/man, so I started a thread asking for zone help that turned into a completely constructive 10-15 pager with lots of great coaches chiming in. Those threads should never be derailed with personal attacks, even if other posters feel that way....its bad for the forums overall IMO

Derailed sort of like this one? Thanks, benis.

Oh. You'd like to go back to OP's original point of this thread? All right, if you insist.

This game sucks! I'm outta here!!!

Totally agree. I think (almost) everyone agrees with you. IMO, that is more discouraging to noobs than people complaining about not getting their full resources for EEs.. but that's just me.

"Examply"? Ha - everyone point and laugh!

But yes, I completely agree with everything in this post. I always search for old threads covering topics I have questions about first or else I'd be posting questions every other week, but any time I have started a thread, I've always done so knowing that there's a solid chance it's going to be derailed with some nonsensical argument about nothing.

I don't know if that's "discouraging" to n00bs but it forces them to wade thru the bullshit to find a helpful tidbit.

I enjoy the game
