You alway have the choice with what people you will surround yourself. If you chose to fraternize with racists or fascists, you made a bad decision and can't argue with being called a bad person. The guy (assuming he spoke the truth) should have looked for a different way of making his statement.
Notice how I posted a chant many many times here that was being chanted the very next day in Durham NC while a public statue was turn down.... "No Cops, No KKK, No Fascist USA"

Not one person, not even one person here has run to the defense of cops to condone this hate speech. Where's the moral outrage? Where's the media?

This is Trump's point. There's hate speech EVERYWHERE of all kinds and we shouldn't be deciding which hate speech is worse than the other... It's all bad! All of it is the problem.

Do you disagree?
We are discussing the events in Charlottesville. Do those chants change our evaluation of these events? Those chants in Durham (true or not) won't make any better what those racists did in Charlottesville.
It's true. There's video. You saw it without audio on your liberal networks (I wonder why). There were also signs that read 'cops and klan go hand in hand'.

So you're only outraged that white supremacists had a rally in Charlottesville.... And don't care that a bunch of bigoted haters in nearby Durham are tearing down historical monuments while comparing cops to the KKK?

I'm still waiting for your moral outrage at this group of liberals in Durham.... Not your deflection of my question.

So, do you disagree that there's hate speech EVERYWHERE of all kinds and we shouldn't be deciding which hate speech is worse than the other... It's all bad! All of it is the problem.

Btw - I think this is a pretty clear statement for all those libs that still say Trump hasn't denounced white supremacy.

“Racism is evil,” Trump said at the White House. “And those who cause violence in its name are criminals and thugs, including the KKK, neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and other hate groups that are repugnant to everything we hold dear as Americans.”

What if you surround yourself with adulterers and druggies? What about petty thieves and liars? Who (besides all the Liberals on this site) gets to judge where "bad" starts?
Adulterers, druggies, petty thieves and liars? Not sure about drugs, and the thieving was more than just petty, but it sounds like your talking about hanging out with the Trumpster.

All 52 ?Senate Republicans refused to discuss Trump's Charlottesville remarks ?on ?CNN this morning

Good for them! Trump is finally teaching them how to not fall for that trap. They're learning.

With our PC culture both sides are hesitant to discuss anything controversial.

No, I think they are just too ashamed of his clueless and classless comments, and they should be.

100% Subjective...they are afraid of the PC culture and saying the "wrong thing".

That's ridiculous and you oughta know that. Here in AZ we know very clearly what our two Republican senators think about Trump's remarks! Just because Fox doesn't want to report on it doesn't mean it hasn't happened!!! Try another source for news!!

Bob, you live in AZ? Nice. Love AZ!!!!!

Awesome weather there. I used to visit Tempe and actually wanted to go to school at ASU but in the end stayed local.

BTW - Your state voted for DT....

I was thinking this watching some talking heads yesterday/this morning.

Speaking on Charlottesville, they had to make it perfectly clear that they thought the KKK was a most vile, disgusting group on earth. They spent more time condemning the KKK than they did on the subject. "KKK sucks" was not good enough.

And it's because, if they hadn't rambled on about how terrible they are, someone would have said "He sounds like a closet KKK supporter."

******* McLemore had to denounce his haircut so no one would say he's a nazi supporter.

Fine people in a crowd of fascists and racists?

That there are people that still defend Trump after his remarks about Charlottesville is beyond me.

If he needs some help, counseling, whatever in finding the right words he should listen to some of his republican friends:

We must be clear. White supremacy is repulsive. This bigotry is counter to all this country stands for. There can be no moral ambiguity.

— Paul Ryan (@SpeakerRyan) 15. August 2017

This is simple: we must condemn and marginalize white supremacist groups, not encourage and embolden them.

— Senator Todd Young (@SenToddYoung) 15. August 2017

Mr. President, you can't allow #WhiteSupremacists to share only part of blame. They support idea which cost nation & world so much pain 5/6

— Marco Rubio (@marcorubio) 15. August 2017
Trump handled it terribly. But there is no way that there weren't people there who were not white supremacists.
No way? Why?
For the exact same reason everyone protesting in Ferguson, MO weren't criminals. They were SURROUNDED by people looting, destroying property, stealing, etc, etc, but they stayed on the streets.

Are you going to put EVERYONE on the streets in Ferguson in the same category?

I think protesting/counter-protesting is stupid. But everyone who does it isn't doing it for the same reasons.
Two completely different situations.

People participating in the rioting in Ferguson were bad because they were rioting. People there but not participating in the rioting weren't necessarily bad people.

People participating in the nazi march were bad because they made the choice to participate in a nazi march. Even if violence hadn't broken out, they would still be bad people.

I'm friends with a lot of people, from all different aspects of my life . . . work, my golf league, people I've coached baseball with, parents of my kids classmates/friends, people I went to school with, etc.

I can't say with any honesty that I know with 100% accuracy the personal ideologies, political and/or social affiliations, etc. of EVERYBODY I consider to be a friend. The close ones, yes. The casual ones . . . of course not. Nobody can.

Neither can you.

You probably need to take a step of two down from the pedestal you're putting yourself on. I would bet that some of your "casual" friends might surprise you with if they fully exposed their inner thoughts and feelings to you about social issues.
Your might not know your casual friends' personal beliefs on things like Jews and gays, but if they invited you to a nazi march, you'd pass. Unless you are also a nazi.

Nope, there is hate everywhere and it is sad (to use Donald's word).Equating cops and the KKK is dumb. Yes, there are racist cops and cops who are members of the KKK, but you could say that about just about any profession. I don't condone any hate speech, no matter who is making it. I'm always telling my kids when they say they hate something or someone that hate is a strong word and they should think before they use it in any situation.
