I wasn't planning on buying an NFL jersey this year, but now I'll buy 2 or 3
Yeah, but would you have bought a jersey if the Jets had lost again?

Absolutely! I wanted the Jets to go 0-16! No. 1 pick and clean house!

Kneeling was never about the soldiers. It was about not bowing down to overlord trump. Who feels like he can do whatever he wants, even kill the NFL with one tweet. Guess what: This was the best thing that happened to the NFL in a long time.
Kap did this before Trump, correct?

You shouldn't be allowed to kneel on the football field.

Just ask Tim Tebow.

If he did it during the National Anthem, he would have been just as wrong as the players doing so now.
When one side of an argument has to repeatedly try to use comparisons that are so far out-of-line they are laughable, it's pretty clear which side of the argument is correct.

I fully respected Tillman for what he did...

My point is that I believe everyone has the right to protest. I think it could be done respectfully, that's all. Those like Kaepernick could have done it other than on the field, during the anthem. Request a meeting with Trump. Hold a press conference. Do it without controversy. Make your point, but not like that.

Guess what? That is the only time he could make a point. All of the things you mentioned, would not have made a difference. At least this is causing a stir

I disagree. A group of athletes could make their point publicly. It doesn't need to be during the anthem...

Tell me if Bob Gibson, Jim Brown, Frank Robinson and Bill Russell wanted to meet with Trump to discuss this, then hold a news conference in the Rose Garden afterwards, people wouldn't know about it? And I bet you Trump would be happy to...btw, Jim Brown dissed Kaepernick for what he did. A man never shy from publicly speaking up regarding race. As he said, Colin went about it the wrong way.

And the four I mentioned? They put up with more racial hatred than all modern day athletes of color...

I am not arguing with that... however I do not disagree with the way Athletes are protesting generally.

But with Trump in power, that would never work

Brown:

"I want to be in his corner, and I do think, 'God bless him,' " Brown said. "I'm going to give you the real deal: I'm an American. I don't desecrate my flag and my national anthem. I'm not gonna do anything against the flag and national anthem. I'm going to work within those situations. But this is my country, and I'll work out the problems, but I'll do it in an intelligent manner."

Kaepernick, a free agent, sat out the national anthem last year, his final year with the San Francisco 49ers, to draw attention to the treatment of minorities as well as police brutality. While those are issues that Brown has spoken out about for decades, he said Kaepernick should have found another way.

I don't disagree with his protest. But it was out of line, no different than the podium protest of 1968 in Mexico City. They simply needed to do it without the hostility that many felt towards them.

Kaepernick has some free time....shouldn't he be front and center in the public eye right now promoting his injustice causes?

He got blacklisted by the NFL

Perhaps. Or the owners just don't want the headache he'd bring...Vick found himself in a similar situation...

Truth be told, his play had fallen way off his last year in SF. That might be why he isn't seeing offers come his way...
