Perhaps. Or the owners just don't want the headache he'd bring...Vick found himself in a similar situation...
Same thing. Still wrong.

I fully respected Tillman for what he did...

My point is that I believe everyone has the right to protest. I think it could be done respectfully, that's all. Those like Kaepernick could have done it other than on the field, during the anthem. Request a meeting with Trump. Hold a press conference. Do it without controversy. Make your point, but not like that.
Protests are useless if they don't make someone uncomfortable.

Put yourself in an owner's shoes. You want to sign him?

Depends. Are you actually seeking progress, or drawing attention? Tell me he couldn't find a better way...seek out those guys like Brown or Frank Robinson. Pick their brain. Get them to go with you. They have credibility. People know what they went through...

Yep. He is a backup-level QB. Better than Cutler in Miami.

The point is to get attention to the issue. Take a stand. Or a knee in this case.

On my fantasy team? Perhaps. In real life? I would look elsewhere. Jerry Jones is a circus clown. Maybe he'd take a flyer on him...

Truth be told, his play had fallen way off his last year in SF. That might be why he isn't seeing offers come his way...
let's put it this way. I think if Kaepernick had not done any of the protesting stuff, he'd have a job in the NFL now, but he's not good enough for an owner to say what he gives me on the field is worth any hassles his signing might cause. If he comes without any baggage he's worth signing as a backup or maybe even a starter for some awful teams. With the baggage, a lot of teams will say he's not worth it.

and Vick got a second chance. Which is worse? Killing innocent animals for entertainment purposes, or making a protest that hurts no one??

They have the right to protest. But there is something to be said for good and decent. People like that. You can disagree with policy, but do it without spitting on soldiers at the airport, as they return home from war, or burning a flag, or having your picture taken on an anti aircraft gun with a group of Viet Cong... Go about your protests the right way. Otherwise you risk alienating people...
I haven't seen one NFL player spit on a soldier, burn the flag or get their picture taken with a bunch of Viet Cong. How are they disrespecting anyone?

The comparison was that each had baggage that might keep potential suitors away. Vick's situation was far worse...

You and I both know that many Americans would take issue with someone making a scene during the playing of the anthem. He chose to do it anyway, despite any potential backlash. You don't think Tommie Smith and John Carlos knew they'd catch hell for raising those fists?

He is within his rights to protest. I would stand with him if he was being denied that right. I simply disagree with his choice of where to do it.

You people have beat the crap out of this subject. Answer me this, what the hell is the point of performing the anthem before every freaking sporting event?
Do you start your work day morning standing at your desk singing at a flag? What the hell does nationalism have to do with sports?

My examples of protesters from the '70s were just to show how people used the wrong forum to express their beliefs. Hell yes, Nam was an awful time in our history. But it was made worse by protesters inciting some very bad feelings from those who viewed it differently.
