Standing up for this nation and what it aspires to be is exactly what they are doing. They may not be doing so in the best way or the way you would do so, but they see what they think is a problem in this country and they are protesting to try and address that problem.
And "a few isolated, local incidents" ?? I'm guessing you are not an African-American so you have no idea how they feel or how the feel. Neither do I but at least I have some empathy for them.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.washingtonpost.com/amphtml/news/volokh-conspiracy/wp/2016/07/18/police-shootings-and-race/

54% of police shootings were white people
28% were black
18% were Hispanic

The protests are ongoing because the facts aren't reported. The media portrays it as every shooting being of a black person.
Less than 15 percent of the US population is black. The actual ratio is the problem
Blacks are less than 15% of the US population but commit just over 50% of the homicides in the US. That ratio is a problem. And don't call me a racist- those numbers are from the Obama Administration Justice Department.

People seem to think death-by-cop should be like affirmative action- the numbers should match race ratios in the population. That is lazy thinking, and it doesn't make sense when you have segment of the population committing crime at an extremely disproportionate rate.
Hmmmm....maybe because black people have been institutionally segregated against for years... If you raise someone poorly, they will act poorly. Maybe fix the problems instead of complaining about the results.
I'm huge on self accountability. There are plenty that make the right choices and go to college and/or pursue careers. The blame for the high crime rate among blacks is put solely on the backs of black males. Stick around and raise your children. For close to 40 years now, blacks have been given as much, if not more, opportunity than any other race.
Except that institutional racism puts people in poverty and our educational system makes sure they stay there.
Yup, look at the history of redlining for a really good look at the institutional racism that has been a part of this country since the earlier 1900's.
No-one wants to argue this point?

The earth moved into an ice age once. Some days later, the earth moved out of the ice age. Climate change? Obviously.

Climate change is a natural part of our planet. Scientists can study it all they want, but they can't change it any more than they change the tides of the ocean or plate tectonics.

That said, as a hunter and fisher, I believe in being good stewards of our planet. Maybe we should stop coating it in a layer of concrete and surrounding with another atmosphere made of satellites and space junk.

almost forgot my tangplay disclaimer: I make this post without conceding any points of debate or positions held within prior posts.
Except that it is obviously man made. We have tons of evidence to support that. Water levels are rising and the water is warmer. This causes flooding and worse hurricanes.
"Obviously man-made"?!?

You mean we never had flooding or hurricanes until MAN came along and ****** up the planet?!? It's irrational, uninformed comments like this that makes tons of money for climate alarmists.

This planet has been here for over 4.5 BILLION years. We've had ice ages, global extermination events, and, yes, flooding and hurricanes long before man ever decided to burn fossil fuels and spray fluorocarbons into the air.... literally 4.5 billions years of climate change that you can't blame on man.
Yup and for the first time ever we have proof that we are helping the process along. It's undeniable really.

Good point Doug! Where are his tax returns? Not just the one year he leaked. The "money started pouring in from Russia"( to quote Trump's son) in 2007-2008. The one he leaked was 2005

Especially the left. Give people a bunch of free stuff and then if black people don't vote for you, you say that they aren't real blacks. Stop enslaving the indigent.
I am not advocating for free stuff. But conservatives use that as an excuse to do NOTHING. And we can see who black people prefer.

Of course. It's not a race issue. It's a socioeconomic issue. If I payed for your food, house, phone, insurance, school, and other things you would like me too, but I would also now have power over you. That's what the left has done with the poor. The right is doing plenty by creating financial opportunity.
Except the right is not helping the issue either. I already proposed giving them incentives to work, and giving them resources to be able to get a job.

If you want to not be poor in America you need to achieve these three things:

#1) Graduate HS
#2) Get a job
#3) Don't be a single parent

In the 1960s 20% of African Americans were single parents. In 2017 that # is 70%. Is the US more racist now than it was in the 70s? I think not. The wealthiest segment in the US is not whites it is Asian Americans. White privilege is not real. Is the US only racist vs. certain groups? I think not. The problem is not race it is culture. Change the culture and everything will be better. Capitalism only values one color. Green.

Turn to capitalism if you want true "equality"

Kaepernick isn't protesting capitalism. He's protesting police brutality.

How does not standing for the anthem protest police brutality? I agree that there are both good and bad police officers out there but protesting the flag does not equate to protesting bad police officers. At least not in my view.
