I was mainly talking about how those 3 preferences weren't realistic. But if you want to go on a rant about the previous game, that's cool too.

I said it’s more realistic than the game you and Stew seem to wish for, and it’s more realistic than the game that used to exist. There was no rant, just a couple related analyses.

Best part of 3.0?

Arguing about what a fake computer generated teenager would or wouldn't like.

Hands down.

"Dad, I really want to play in a great conference"

"Well what about the Big East? You'd get to play the conference tourney in Madison Square Garden, the mecca of basketball. Think of the legends who've played there - Ewing, Pearl, Mullins, Iverson. You'll get to play against future NBA All Stars. Plus playing all the games on ESPN, wow! Not to mention your mother and I could actually get to see you play since it's on TV"

"Sure that's nice and all.. But DAD. If I went to Colorado School of Mines, I could play in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Sure there were only 2,000 people at the conference tourney championship game last year but I heard it was CRAZY. Maybe you and mom could find a way to listen to the game on the radio or something."

"I've failed as a father".

Any chance that kid lives in Colorado? Maybe mom and dad could just attend the games and make attendance 2002.

But, if we're talking realism, can a coach who's been at a school for 60 seasons do anything but drool while recruiting? That's not a good look for a sales pitch.

"I don't see this thread as valuable. I see stewdog complaining that he can't just take a recruit from a D2 school by simply showing up. That's what his last thread was and this one is heading down the same path."

Only if you continue to enable him.

The North Central Conference of the 90s was an example of a “very good” conference in terms of conference strength. It’s now defunct, because at least 5 of its teams moved up to D1. We commonly had 7500+ people in Frost Arena for big games against Augustana, USD, Northern St. and NDSU.

If a WIS PAC 10 has only 5-6 human controlled teams for a few years, it’s going to suffer. It’s no longer a “Madison Square Garden” atmosphere. Fake players don’t care about real life histories, past the baseline prestige of the individual teams. Nor should they.

Tepid attempts at snark aside, your argument is not very interesting. If you’re concerned that these fake recruits should factor in division when they decide how much weight their preferences get when they make a decision, the good news is that you don’t need to worry. They do factor in division, when the prestige modifier kicks in, affecting all preferences and promises.

Yeah seems accurate.

And irrelevant. Unless you think anyone coaches at a school for 60 seasons.

We want a sim game that considers a great D2 conference as better than a real good D1 conference?
For real?

The prestige modifier affects everything a school does to recruit; attention, promises, visits. So again, if your concern is that the recruit should factor in division differences, the good news is that he does. Effort modified by every preference also gets modified by division. Once (or twice, if you’re Benis). When the whole pot of effort credit is modified by prestige.

Does that mean he has to consider a D1 conference stronger than a D2 conference in the single isolated preference modifier? Nope. A recruit that wants to play zone doesn’t have to give more credit to the D1 school playing zone/press for that preference than the D2 School playing a straight zone. A recruit that wants a long time coach doesn’t have to give the D1 school with a coach who has been there for 10 seasons more credit than a D2 School with a coach who has been there for 20.

I'm talking about two specific preferences- conference strength and success.
The other stuff makes sense.
These are no argument issues to me- a great D2 conference is NOT better than a really good D1 conference. Same with success. A great D2 school does not face the competition a very good D1 coach faces and this is silly to say a D2 coach has more "success" than a really good D1 coach.

Quit distorting the argument by adding layers to the question that are irrelevant to these facts.
Questioning my motive, stereotyping me, stating irrelevant facts, etc. to not deter from the original question or premise.
I know you hate me, Mike, but personal attacks, name calling, hating my resume (which is a million times better than yours ),and changing the subject have nothing to do with the facts reported that there are ridiculous issues that need to be addressed.

In no world should a D2 program or conference be considered more prestigious than a really good D1 program & there are currently two preferences that reflect this.

Uh, A) I don't hate you. You're a whiner and it's not necessary. You're successful under all systems. I guess whining is an outlet for you. B) you're not quoting me. WTF are you talking about?

A) a-Thanks. Glad to know. Seems that way, but cool. b- Its a fix that would help the game get somewhat more realistic and its a silly preference. c- I'm a whiner. I guess you would know. I just wanna make the game better and this is a discussion board.
B) Earlier in the thread. And almost any time I post. As a matter of fact there was a LOT on this thread that I didn't realize you were blind to, but ok.
