I find that annoying. But much less annoying than focusing on a guy days 1 thru 4 thinking it's in the bag, and hoping you can get away with using only APs.

Then D1 human comes calling in 2 cycles and rips your heart out, with ease.

It makes the D2 against D2 issue much more soothing! At least you CAN control that somewhat

You will have to be more specific with the preferences. I do not know how D1 recruiting goes I am guessing there is a higher emphasis on prestige there, and at D2 preferences are more important than prestige at least in my experience. So without knowing preferences or prestige I cannot tell you what it will take to push someone else down but I can tell you Effort/promises> preferences> prestige at D2. More experienced guys feel free to correct me if I am wrong these are all my opinions

Just do not spend anything until second cycle. To drop D1 teams, when the recruit is early, end of or whenever, minutes and start.

Not bad advice! At D3 any money spent before the recruit is eligible to sign is at risk. I use AP's only until the 5pm cycle of 2nd period for D1 recruit and the 1st cycle of the 2nd recruiting period for a D2 player. Money is precious at D3; use it wisely!

Time after time after time we have seen complaints in the forums that a recruit was unreachable when the coach didn't set him up early enough as a back-up plan ... and yet we still occasionally see bad advice like "do not spend anything until second cycle." Amazing.
You're wrong, in D2 that is good advice. You never know when a D1 team will come into the picture. Occasionally you'll spend, but it isn't completely necessary in every situation.

There is a lot of strategy and some risk behind it. It could be a good strategy if A)You know a D-1 team might not show interest AND B) You want to show the other D-2 team you're serious about getting the recruit. I certainly wouldn't recommend blowing your budget however in the first period, but placing a few HVs might have some advantages. The lower D-1, human coached prestige schools are the teams you need to keep an eye on when recruiting D-1 players at the D-2 level.

And l80r20 aka CoachSpud is a troll and should be ignored. Just don't respond to anything he says.

Sorry Spud. You needed to be flagged for excessive stupidity. I also saved you from a bashing, consider it an early Christmas gift.

Get as many recruits that are close to you geographically to level 2...then sort your recruit pool by preferences. From the guys that have multiple positive preferences pick your targets to scout further. No point in going after recruits that have an average negative view of your school. This will help you build a bigger pool of potential backups if your primary battles are lost. Don't forget to watch out for the guys who only have one preference and you're listed as "very good!"

If you know D1 teams won't show up... That is why I do not spend unless a get an agressive sim on my recruit.

I spend money first session sometimes for nothing more than I want to know where the hell I stand with the other player. It’s really annoying not knowing if you have a sizable lead (VH to M) or if you are trailing a good amount (M to VH) or if it’s somewhere in the middle.

I feel like that could be fixed fairly easily. It was put that way for coding perpuses, so they didn’t have to code in that D1 recruits couldn’t sign D2 until second session. Which seems very lazy to me.

1. That wasn't Spud you redlined, it was me.
2. I saw the post before it was redlined, and since it was on topic it'll be restored, and you'll be warned for the umpteenth time.
3. "Just do not spend anything until second cycle." Even newbies will see that as a bad idea, pretty much like "roll over and play dead." Shame on veterans trying to mislead newbies.
LMAO!
