But if it exists for 1, it is possible to exist for others. Otherwise you are saying FCP is the ONLY issuance in which efficiency is effected by IQ. But it would be illogical for the formula to be written ONLY for FCP.
That's not what he's saying.
Playing Press with low IQs can cause you to foul out quickly - arguably the WORST thing that could happen in a game. Fouling is noticeable and easily measureable as well as impactful. Basically the Press defense has the biggest weakness of increased fouling vs zone/M2M. Low IQ will exacerbate this weakness.
What is the weakness of motion/fb/triangle that flex doesn't have and how will a low IQ magnify that issue?
Look at all the snark and insults!
It’s fair to ask you for clarification here. If your point was that IQ just seems more impactful to press because fouls are easier to isolate than FG%, at least 3 others had already made this point. Then the last 2 sentences of your first paragraph seem to confirm that you think it does indeed mean more for the press than for other sets. So JT could rightly wonder “isn’t that what I’ve been saying?” If it’s not, maybe you can clarify.
Damnit this thread slid into the ditch.
This is what I wanted to know. IF IQ affects Press, why wouldn't IQ have some affect (negative/positive) on the other sets.
Not to get too logical, but why are the sets in the order they are? They are not alphabetical; is that on purpose? So there is acknowledgement Press relies on IQ; iis at the end or to the far left in all displays.
IQ affects all the sets. In press, low IQ increases fouls. In zone, low IQ leads to opponents making more shots. In man, I suspect it’s a combination, and the fact that an opponent who is paying attention can pick on a low IQ defender directly. These are all scenarios that make it more difficult to win than it is when your players all have good IQ.
Its easier to isolate the effects of poor IQ with press, because fouls are individually assigned. But try running zone with a bunch of low IQ players. It’s hard to do well. They are going to struggle. I imagine it’s the same with man, though I haven’t played man in many seasons, and never above D3.
