That was the case like 20 years ago and may I should have said it WAS the rule. Both my friends who were white ended up going to Austin and becoming Police Officers there. But at one time that was the rule. I am sorry I misspoke. What is the rule now? Where do you show it is not true?

Thanks
Show that it was the rule.

You won’t be able to. It never was.

Couple of articles in the Boston Globe and Bay State Banner(whatever the hell that is) 70 is the score needed for any applicant who isn't a veteran. Veteran's get a bonus added to their total. The department is currently undergoing a lawsuit about it's minority hiring for Lt's and Sgts.

I can't find anything that ever said it was. Looked pretty deeply also.

LOL

OK

It may have been the unwritten rule. According to my friends 70% is the passing score but if you are white you need a 100% to get on the force. Minorities needed lower scores. I swear on my kids lives that is true. That is how confident I am. ON MY KIDS LIVES.

OK, how about the Rooney Rule? Is that a better example?
One of the most racially discriminatory examples I can think of. Makes it appear African-Americans are incapable of earning an interview.
Maybe mandatory interviewing of at least 1 woman for each HC vacancy should be required to show the Franchise isn't sexist?
Hey, how about mandatory tryouts for at least 1 white player when there is in opening on the team?
Total garbage!
1/12/2018 10:17 AM
The Rooney rule to me is an example that there is absolutely institutional racism.

Has nothing to do with being incapable of earning an interview and has everything to do with not being granted an interview. Did I just see Norv Turner got a gig again? LOL. Even the Rooney rule is treated with a wink and a nod...see John Gruden hire.

From the forum:

Passing score is a 70 for the Civil Service test, but if you're a non-veteran, you'll need at least a 99 to even be considered. Quincy isn't under any type of consent decree, so race isn't going to play a factor, at least for the foreseeable future.

If you really want to be a police officer, join a National Guard Military Police unit. You'll most likely spend a year in Iraq or some other hellhole, but you'll have veteran's preference and therefore almost be guaranteed a police job (provided you pass the background & academy).

I'm with the Quincy PD, I'll try to answer any questions you might have.

By the way....if you want to be a cop, you should lose the attitude about "dam black people". That kind of stuff has no place in law enforcement.

So ur really a quincy cop? How do i know? U might be lying. By the way SCREW THE NATIONAL GUARD I AM JOINING THE NAVY!!!!!!!!!1

1) With your attitude, you best look for another line of work. You're not even out of high school, and you're already copping an attitude to a veteran of almost 20 years experience. If I were your FTO, I'd dump you off at the station in about 3 minutes.

2) I couldn't care less if you believe me or not. If I were going to lie about my job, I'd pick something a hell of a lot more glamorous than being a cop.

3) If you join the Guard, you'll be eligible to take the civil service test with veteran's preference a hell of a lot quicker than if you join the Navy for 4 years.

But...do it your way, because you obviously have all the answers already.

Weird, there must have been a lot of really smart white people applying for the police force because it was almost entirely white.

You would be surprised how many have criminal justice degrees from local universities that actually teach the classes to pass such test. Both my friends were criminal justice majors. And the test is not super hard actually. Or was not. Again. It may be the "unwritten rule" but that was the case. If you were white you better get a 100% or you were not going to get in. If you were a minority. A 70% and you were in. Unfortunately because it is unwritten I cannot show proof but if swearing on my kids lives is not enough I am not sure what is.

I think that there being only one minority head coach from 1920-1979 is pretty telling. And then not another one until 1989.

7 minority head coaches from 1920-until 2003 and the inception of the Rooney rule. In the NFL....

Do you think that is ridiculous?

I heard that it was an unwritten rule that your dick had to be at least 9 inches to become a cop in some cities after they ditched the 100/70 rule. More reverse racism designed to give blacks an edge?

I think it's ridiculous you credit the rule for the increased minority hirings instead of the decrease in racism.
Mandatory anything involving race, is racism.
If mandatory interviewing of an African-American for Coaching vacancies is OK, then why shouldn't there be mandatory tryouts for whites when there are open roster spots? Surely you agree that the percentage of white players is greatly askew from the percentage of whites in the general population, so there must be some racial hiring practices when it comes to players, right?

Say it again. I did not see it. Do you think it’s a culture thing or a race thing? I believe it is culture. As I said to me capitalism is color blind. But I live in MA so my vision could be skewed.
It is a wealth AND race thing. To answer your question about Jews,
1. Jews are not discriminated against to the extent that black people are, in the US.
2. Jews did not have drugs and other things put into their neighborhoods.

As for capitalism, if no one can measure whether a black person could have been better at the job than a white person, people can discriminate away. Again, in this situation capitalism ONLY works if it is transparant, like the NBA.
