You would be surprised how many have criminal justice degrees from local universities that actually teach the classes to pass such test. Both my friends were criminal justice majors. And the test is not super hard actually. Or was not. Again. It may be the "unwritten rule" but that was the case. If you were white you better get a 100% or you were not going to get in. If you were a minority. A 70% and you were in. Unfortunately because it is unwritten I cannot show proof but if swearing on my kids lives is not enough I am not sure what is.
I heard that it was an unwritten rule that your dick had to be at least 9 inches to become a cop in some cities after they ditched the 100/70 rule. More reverse racism designed to give blacks an edge?
Whatever. IF you want to be a clown the join the circus. I am trying to have a serious discussion. I don't have time for people like you. Ignorant.
The only clown here is the one who makes arguments like "I have two black friends and they say that black people are actually the ones who are in control and used to own white people as slaves" or "I swear on my kids lives that a friend of a friend of a friend posted in a chat room that cops in Boston are only allowed to be white if they are members of MENSA, otherwise, blacks only."

It's helpful to Tee Martin to have had the opportunity to be officially interviewed. It becomes a part of his "experience" on paper and in reality it gives him a chance to go through the process, field some questions, etc. Then reflect on it afterwards and use that experience when he gets another opportunity BASED on his (hopefully) continued good performance as a coordinator or Asst. coach. The next time might be a REAL opportunity with a roster that "fits" and he'll be more experienced and May be able to land his dream job........... who knows?

This.

It's subtle, but there's a momentum that comes with interviewing for head coaching positions. Eventually, more minority coaches get jobs.

Great, now you're living in the 70's. That should be helpful.
How are player signings any more transparent than Coach hirings?
We can all see a player's talent. We cannot see a coaches. For instance, take the Kaep situation. We all see who he is being passed up on for. This prevents disceimination. With coaches, because the process is closed it is tough to measure.
Bringing up Kaepernick is bad for your argument. He's got some talent, but he's also a headcase and a distraction. He's basically Johnny Manziel with a cause and a propaganda machine behind him.
Comparing Johnny Manziel to Kaep was a bad argument.
I wasn't making an argument. I'm telling you that implying that Kaepernick is being "passed up" because of (racial) discrimination is a bad argument, mainly because it overlooks the hundreds of other reasons why Kaep would be a bad addition to an NFL team, regardless of his potential for (slightly) better QB play.
I was not making the argument that Kaep has been discriminated against. I was only making the argument that the transparancy of NFL players have allowed people to make that argumebt.
The Raiders announced they interviewed a couple of minorities (Tee Martin was one, the other was an internal coach). The coaching process is JUST AS TRANSPARENT. We know who is qualified and who isn't. If Jon Gruden is hired, we can make the reasonable inference that ALL OTHER COACHES WERE "passed up", including all the white, black, asian (are there any?), swedish, whatever....

The Rooney rule, while well-intentioned, leads to tokenism and bogus efforts. Do you really think the Raiders were hiring anyone BUT Gruden? The burden of transparency is on the APPLICANTS. If a black (or asian, if there are any) coordinator or college football coach or any other reasonably qualified individual was interested in the Raider job, he/she should say "I'M INTERESTED IN THE RAIDER JOB". Then, if the Raiders don't interview him/her, they are in violation. If they're not qualified, the Raiders could say "This person isn't qualified. We must have someone who has X years as a coordinator" That's transparency.
Do you not think that releasing the names of the minorities who were interviewed helpsbsaid minorities?

I think the government requiring private businesses to do this tramples on American liberties.

Rooney Rule isn't Guvmint!

True, I was referring more to affirmative action as a whole.

Affirmative action doesn't exist in the private sector.

You are right, we should all have the right to be discriminatory. While we are at it, let's make black people move to the back of the bus again.

Absolutely

And yes, I think companies should have right to discriminate. I also have the right to give my money to businesses that don't discriminate. That is how capitalism works.

Well, no. That's not OK. The 14th amendment doesn't allow discrimination on the basis of race.
1/12/2018 2:26 PM
14th amendment protects against discrimination from government, but you're welcome to try again if you want.
1/12/2018 2:40 PM
Uhhh, you might want to check out the equal protection clause.
