Shoe, no offense but you really disliked that guy when I posted him in the forum. He was one of the few players in HD history who started in 4 Sweet 16 games for a D baseline game.

My favorite part of this guy is his FT and Speed are Low and Very Low. This means he won't drop at all in those areas. Pallas has 130 practice minutes. Probably 20 in O/D, means 90 individual practice minutes. Give me 23 in Con, 23 in per, 23 in bh, 21 in PA.

If I remember -- or if anyone even cares -- I'll post again when he's a senior, see where he ended up.

I agree his WE is really low, but that's probably what gave me the opportunity to land him. My Purdue prestige isn't scaring anyone away.
You are absolutely correct that the Low WE made a huge difference in getting him. If his WE was 30-40, you would have probably had to battle B and A prestiges.

Just start him 4 seasons and he will get decent (not great) growth. It will depend on when ratings change colors and your practice plan but I'll guess his final ratings will be

Ath: 88
Spd: 56
Reb: 56
Def: 96
SB: 26
LP: 55
PER: 88
BH: 70
Pass: 82
ST: 70
FT: C+

That's a great player for a C prestige team rebuilding. He'll be a solid defender and provide some reb and offense from the 3 spot. A little slower than I'd like but not terrible.

This post has a rating of , which is below the default threshold.

That’s a little too optimistic. To get that much growth in 4 categories - ath, per, bh, and pas, he’s going to have to dump rebounding and LP. And with that we, unless they’re low growth (apparently not?), they’re going to drop, not rise.

I agree, an 85-55-95 core sf with 85-70-80 perimeter skills is a good D1 player. This one may be good (not “elite”) by his senior year. The problem is that you need to start him for 3 years leading up to it.

Yeah he's an elite DI player. He would start for me on Sweet 16 teams by the time he's a senior. He's a freshman that comes in knowing my defense with 92 DE? Hell yeah. Blue ath pa Green per bh.

They should each grow 10-20 a piece. You know that guy I posted for Idaho State everyone said yes to? Those are my projected final ratings for Morrow. I should note that those ratings are maybe even a bit under because I used Eugene Arreguin, who I did not start Sophomore year.
No, he is not. Don’t be ridiculous. He’s fine. He’s passable. I take guys like that on my D1 teams. He’s not elite. He’s not a guy you count on to carry your scoring at any point in his career. He’s a good defender who won’t kill you for a couple years, then will contribute for a couple years. But he’s also upgradeable, and you shouldn’t pass up a chance to upgrade, when you get one.

This isn’t a hate-on-pallas’s-recruit tack. Congrats for getting what you feel is your best recruit so far! I wouldn’t say anything, except the word elite got tossed out there, and I hate to see someone’s expectations get jacked.
Zero offense taken. You guys all made good points, points which I've considered.

For where Purdue is right now, I think he can be a very good player for me. "Elite" is another conversation, sure. I doomed myself the first few seasons here trying to recruit with Illinois and Michigan State and Iowa; I reached up way too high, missed, and set myself back. The Midwest is a tough region when rebuilding a Big 6 team.

I'm not trying to recruit to win the Big 10. I'm recruiting to get to a B prestige. Once there, goals will change.

One other benefit is that this guy won't be going EE (most likely) so that's nice.

Give me 90 ath 96 de 90 per with reasonably good everything else 8 days of the week at C prestige.

Agreed. I would take them, too, and I do. But in this case, you have to wait until his 4th season for anything close to 2 of those 3 projections. Optimistic projections, assuming he won’t have much drop off in those categories between any seasons.

And you have to start him all the way until the end to get close.

The whole point is not to fall in love with this guy, or the quest to get him to be a serviceable big 10 player someday. If Pallas has a chance to upgrade next season, he should take it, and let this guy be a solid defender off the bench, which is his ideal role for a team that aspires to rise.

He will never reach 90 ath or 90 per, even with starting all 4 years and 20 practice minutes in each. With a starting work ethic of 6 he will gain maybe 18-21 points a season, while dropping in any category without practice minutes. He will lose 10-15 points every offseason. He will gain - at most - 4-5 points of WE a year. The good news is he is a serviceable player that could make a little improvement in the cores and will definitely be a 4 year player--but he will never come close to reaching his potential.

Isn't this player proving my point? He goes up 20 pts a year, loses in the offseason, and is nowhere near his potentials as a senior.
1/14/2018 2:48 PM
Not sure why you keep posting Arreguin. His starting cores are *way* better than the player in question. And it’s not as though he was a featured player for you. He held down his position well, especially defensivley, but he’s surely not the reason Weber St. had some success.

As for growth, he only grew 20 points in a single category, not the 4 key attributes Morrow needs to develop.
