Subjectivity is an entirely different matter. I assumed you meant objectivity. If not what subjectivity are you referring to?

Do you think the idea of subjectivity in reporting is impossible?
Your question is self answering. You used the term idea.

Objectivity in reporting is an ideal. A goal. Because reporting is done by humans (who have some bias on most topics) and published by businesses (who are concerned with their readers political tendencies) it is always out of reach and any single news report should always be considered along with the entirety of the reporting done on that topic. Is it impossible? Well, we can try can't we?

IMO, (in BIG BIG general) the News reporting nowadays makes attempts to stay neutral on topics (with some obvious exceptions like Fox) but largely gets off track into bias.
It was way worse in the 1800's and quite some better in the 1950's thru 70's.
Bah, Fox is just one side of the biased reporting. On the other side is MSNBC, CNN, CBS, NYT, WaPo, and various other liberal rags.

I'd say WSJ is the closest to being unbiased politically, tilting towards the financial/business impact of actions, rather than the philosophical implications of an action.

Agreed!

Here is what I want:

New tax bill is passed:

Two unbiased "experts" come on TV and explain the ramifications and what it means for businesses and individuals. Instead we have the Dems stating it is a disaster and the GOP stating it is the best thing to happen to the US in 30 years. WTF?!?!

News is drawn via political lines instead of objective reporting. I HATE THAT!!!!

I DID say exceptions (Plural!). Fox was just the one I used as a visible example. I don't contend that they are the only visible one.

Bob, create a moderate unbiased network please. LOL

There are two sides to FOX...the NEWS and Opinion. Hannity and Carlson Tucker are Opinion. Shepard Smith is a lefty news guy. Most of the news shows are right of center BUT they are not opinion.

I constantly compare the propaganda FAKE NEWS from CNN and the like to Fox News and almost always find FOX to be telling the truth and reporting things the others either lie about or try to hide or ignore.....like FUSION/GPS.

LOL. WHO is it trying to hide the transcript of the Fusion/GPS guys testimony????? The lefty NEWS???/ LOL.

That would be the bootlikker repugs. trying to hide what really was testified to!! Not the News not reporting on it!
Do you get paid for the one sided drivel/propaganda you post all the time??? Hope so. If not stick with the humor stuff, once in a while you succeed at that!

I want NEWS not only opinion. Don Lemon has never reported news in his life.

Honestly, I think the biased left/right arguing all started with the McLaughlin Group (which kinda fits Laramie's timeline), hit pop culture with Crossfire, and now EVERY SINGLE media outlet is more concerned with making their own headlines/commentary than presenting the news.

Now we have a generation who thinks that Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are news anchors.

Would you like to hear from some people who demanded the transcripts be released to the general public?

You won't find a democrat or CNN on that list. IN FACT on NPR today Diane Rehm had two lefties on, no conservatives, who insist NOTHING in the dossier has been disproven and TRUMP is still on the verge of going down for the Steele paper. NPR IS FAKE NEWS.

I'll find the TRUTH for you. LET'S SEE who wants it released.

STEVE KING is a Republican and here's what he's just released:

Steve King is one who has tweeted, “I have read the memo” — he’s a Republican from Iowa — “I have read the memo. The sickening reality has set in. I no longer hold out hope there is an innocent explanation for the information the public has seen. I have long said it is worse than Watergate. It was.”

HERE'S ANOTHER ONE just released in the last 24 hours:

Another tweet. And this is from Ron DeSantis, a Republican from Florida. “The classified report compiled by House Intelligence is deeply troubling and raises serious questions about the upper echelon of the Obama DOJ and Comey FBI as it relates to the so-called collusion investigation.”
1/19/2018 4:01 PM
HERE'S ANOTHER ONE:

Lee Zeldin: “Just read the classified doc @HPSCI re FISA abuse. I’m calling for its immediate public release w/relevant sourced material. The public must have access ASAP! Releasing this classified info doesn’t compromise good sources & methods. It reveals the feds’ reliance on bad sources & methods.”
