Honestly, I think the biased left/right arguing all started with the McLaughlin Group (which kinda fits Laramie's timeline), hit pop culture with Crossfire, and now EVERY SINGLE media outlet is more concerned with making their own headlines/commentary than presenting the news.

Now we have a generation who thinks that Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are news anchors.
I don't. I just think they are talented and funny comedians who know what they are talking about.
Thanks for admitting it.

From splinter.com :

It’s hard to overstate Stewart’s influence. A 2010 Rasmussen poll found that nearly one in three millennials thought that shows like “The Daily Show” and “The Colbert Report” were taking the place of traditional newscasts, including 30 percent of under-30s. About two in five said they thought the shows helped people stay abreast of current events, and more than one in five said the shows at least somewhat helped shape their political views.

A 2012 Pew Research Center survey gave more evidence of both shows’ influence. Though they made up just 23 percent of the American population at the time, young Americans from the ages of 18-29 made up 43 percent of the viewership of “The Colbert Report” — and 39 percent of “The Daily Show’s” audience.

Honestly, watching Stewart was better than traditional cable news shows. A panel of six people yelling over each other isn’t exactly informative.

Exactly. That sort of simple entertain-me mentality led us to the current ****** state of quasi-political entertainment. If Stewart can get eyeballs and sell advertising, lets run fake news 24x7... The public (well, at least enough for us to make money) can't tell the difference anyway.

And so now we have the idiotic voters nominating and electing unqualified ****** candidates, money-grubbing politically motivated networks not caring about truth or integrity and fighting with the internet for shock value and clicks, and a public who can't trust anything they hear or read.

It's weird how this "fake news" term was hijacked from actual fake news--literally people making **** up on facebook in an attempt to get eyeballs--and applied to any legitimate news organization that ever makes a mistake (all of them) or ever publishes something that one side thinks is biased (always).

CNN isn't fake news.
NYT isn't fake news.
WSJ isn't fake news.
CBS, MSNBC, WaPo, Politico are all not fake news.

I think I get your argument wylie and even agree with the logic......... at least partially.

BUT, one simple question.

All those humans who shared the opinion that the Earth was flat.... remember them?
Later on it was pretty much proved to most of them (all but the lunatics who refuse to acknowledge new factual information) that the Earth was NOT flat... that indeed it was a sphere/globe.

Was their (shared) opinion wrong?
And if not, why not?
Why can a human not cling to an opinion that is flat wrong?

Have you ever studied the history/(creation story) of the LDS faith (Mormons).??
Most Mormons are GOOD people, excellent neighbors quality citizens, etc........ I very much like and respect them for their life practices!!!
BUT, they believe in (HOLD the opinion That) Joseph Smith was some sort of Prophet/Seer chosen by God to found their religion.
They have every right to share that opinion.
Known facts clearly dispute that opinion of Joseph Smith and (in fact) the entire timeline and basic LDS story of Christ's reappearance on earth to the Laamanites(?) (I think it was)
I mean basic geologic global knowledge!!

I don't mean to disparage anyone's belief, BUT to believe in the actual timeline as laid out in the Mormon doctrine is just clearly wrong! (Not necessarily their belief in their God, but their timeline and explanation!) Thus all Mormons either share a wrong opinion OR just choose to kind of ignore that little detail of their religion story.

Perhaps a better example. You can't hold the opinion that Paul Bunyan created the Grand Canyon by dragging his axe (or whatever) and ignore geological fact without (clearly) holding an incorrect opinion. Thus, that opinion (Paul Bunyan did it) is wrong.

Where am I wrong logically?
I think that's more than 1 question, but....:)
Those people who believed the earth was flat before it was proved it is a sphere? They're opinion was not wrong, because at the time, it was not a proven fact that the earth is round. Those who still believe the earth if flat are just crazy. Saying the earth is flat now is not an opinion because most rational people KNOW it has been scientifically proven not to be flat.

I have not studied Mormon history but most of the Mormons I know are good people also. Their beliefs that Joseph Smith was a prophet /seer chosen by God to found their religion can not be disproven, so their opinions can not be wrong. Just as a Christian who believes Jesus was the son of God is not wrong, since no one can prove whether Jesus was or was not the son of God. Heck, the existence of God can't be proven, let alone whether or not he had a son.
Also, a lot of this is not just opinion, but faith as well. That is an entirely different ball of wax, which I don't want to touch!
There are things in the Bible that are clearly wrong as well.

Saying Paul Bunyan create the Grand Canyon by dragging his axe is not an opinion. Im not sure what it is, but it is not an opinion. Is there actually anyone out there who believes that?

Was it BL that was from Cali?
I want to know his nationality. Like for me, I am a white guy who is a Jew.
I don't see your nationality anywhere in that statement. I am an American who happens to be Jewish. My ancestors came from Russia, Hungary and Poland. THAT statement includes my nationality.
