Is there a strategic way to inform of a redshirt? The guy I am thinking about has a “Wants to play” preference and is a juco. I know I have to inform a redshirt because he won’t take it otherwise. Currently there is nobody else on him. How do I do this without him shutting me out?

Would it be best to inform before I offer scholarships and other stuff? Or after? Aee there any methods to doing this?

a a juco with that pref, sounds uphill but it will be affected by how much he wants to come to your school

if he is a reach for you, even more uphill

if he is glad to even hear from you, better chance

inform of redshirt seems to be like negative effort - say a couple of home visits - but may be more for some guys

Ok, so I informed of redshirt before offering a scholarship, I went back to 0% for unlocking the scholarship, and now after two cycles of 20 AP I am still at 0%. This just means I am in the negative right? and eventually I will be in the positive again?

If all you have is 20 AP you have a lot of ground to cover, and an uphill battle. I’ve tried toying with this after all my openings were filled. And 20 AP doesn’t do much. I’m not sure if you have more to offer, or how much more is necessary. But I know that 20 per cycle will barely move the needle

I just posted about this a few days ago. From the experienced folks on here, my impression is that after that recruit drops you to 0, it’s d*mn near impossible to climb back into it.
I spent a few more cycles of AP on my guy and withdrew the redshirt, but stayed at 0.

So I guess informing of redshirt before offering a scholarship is not the right strategy.

Were you able to get back on after you withdrew the redshirt?

Nah definitely dont inform redshirt before schollie, worst case if it doesn't work out you can always rescind schollie. If you have a player with a potential issue with the redshirt I"ll always inform and send 5 or so HV and maybe even a CV with it to counteract. Depends on the situation but informing of R/S without the schollie is suicide. Especially with the preference wants to play and he is a JUCO.

I rescended it and moved right back up. Can I inform again along with HVs? Or would that be worse?
