Bad luck. IMO those are both catch and shoot plays by Ono. Double teams typically don't cover those unless you have another defender in the area.

I usually think of plays (especially 3s) with an assist as catch and shoot plays.

eaglesfan... is this your analysis of double teams in real life... or in HD? thats an interesting analysis but i havent heard anyone suggest it works that way.
Im not saying youre not right... cause it is good logic. but havent heard that before.

btw... congrats on your birds today

bo, i dont care if you were playing a minus 5 and double team the cheerleaders... that is an insane ending! i feel for ya brother. i have been known to go off in the coaches corner on 20+ post rants (scrolling everyone elses messages off the cc). and have even resorted to breaking mice, glasses, remote controls etc after particularly bad losses. and ive had some bad ones. but nothing like yours. i honestly feel like my brand new laptop would be in grave danger if i read a pbp like that.

were you reading it "blind" without knowing the outcome?

man, the HD gods owe you big time.

I've told this before, but I'll try to make you feel better with two stories. First, I'm in the championship game with my cal tech team down 12 with 7 minutes to go. We go on a 12 - 0 run tying it with my team's first 3 point make of the season. Other team comes down and with no time left my senior defensive specialist reaches in and fouls. I get beat on two free throws with no time left.
second story, I'm in the middle of my run at cal tech and make the final 4, get beat by 4. Look at the box score which I don't often do. Here I left my starting shooting guard completely off the depth chart (I changed some things before the postseason due to promises). Played the entire postseason running press with 10 guys and never noticed. If you play this game long enough you make a mistake that you kick yourself for eventually.

Lmao I'm kinda OC and spend about an hour on most postseason game plans.

Thanks oldave. Not a mathematical formula person or computer programmer. Just a big sports fan.

Based it on years of watching sports and playing sports video games. Play one took six seconds from rebound to basket on the other end. Play two was in bounded and took two seconds. Play those out with people or in video games and it would turn out like I said. Catch the ball and dribble for a while and you can forget getting the assist even if you don't go anywhere. Catch the ball and shoot ding! ding! ding! The assist is given.

Yes oldave I was reading it blind without knowing the outcome. When it did get down to about 20 seconds or so I did notice the drawbar on the side
was near the bottom so I knew there would be no overtime--which made me think even more that I was going to win. When he tied it up with the 3 with 9 seconds to go--I really thought I had it in the bag--thought I was going to hit the buzzer beater to win it. Then I missed a shot with 4 seconds to go and thought--cool now I am going to win with a tip-in. The thought I was going to lose never even entered my head. Then I rolled it down one more notch saw that the other team got the rebound with 2 seconds to go and I knew I was doomed. Then rolled it down for the final full court shot play and was too stunned and shocked to even get ****** about it.

Love your line about double teaming the cheerleaders lol.

Brutal. You're taking this like a champ though. My phone would probably be in 50 pieces right now.

The WIS gods will repay you in the near future.

What a selfish bast*rd. The least he could've done was to wash the dishes before killing himself.

Maybe he's a laundry kind of guy.

that definitely makes alot of sense..
but, the million dollar question is... does the HD sim think that way?
I have many times fallen into the trap of thinking in terms of what would be logical in real life.
now certainly there are many times when the sim does behave like you would think. but theres also times when it doesnt..

in this case, the practical application of this would seem to be that uptempo and or fastbreak offense might limit the effectiveness of an opponents doubleteam. again, that kinda makes sense but havent ever seen anything to indicate HD works that way. or maybe im just slow learner.

I don't have nearly enough experience to say that it doesn't but I'd wager it doesn't.

I bumped a thread a couple of days ago, with several ticket responses, and none mentioned the "he shot so quickly there was no time for a double team". While no one here cares about HBD, we were talking about high range guys covering for low range guys. Makes sense in the real world, or video games, but that's not how HBD works. I just don't think sim games function as the real world would.
