So you're saying you went 5 straight seasons of being unable to recruit a player who could be a serviceable PG. At D3.
"unable" ? More like he doesnt see the need for a good PG. He was trying to tell me that D2 Lander shouldnt even have a PG. Literally Every squad Mike has is filled with low BH/P guards. Goes crazy when they dole out a 1-2 assists in a game
Sez the guy who played an unathletic PF at PG in M2M then wondered why he couldn't win games. Your HD knowledge can be written on a postage stamp in bold print.
PF with BH/P of 75-50. Best ballhandler on the team HANDS DOWN.
Eh I would have played Sargent at the 2 and Wise at the 1, but they are pretty interchangeable. The main problem was the total lack of talent and speed on Lander. Probably should have been a PI team.
Yeah that team was in rough shape WAY before Zags took over. Very little talent returning and poorly constructed roster.

Let's not pretend like that team with the 91 RPI and 84 SOS was any good...
NT appearance. Let's not pretend that didn't happen.

Anyway, it was a fun stroll down memory lane. I should have known once you started posting, just dying to argue something/anything, that the point of the thread would be derailed.

Nonetheless, this little trip was a perfect reason to point out why "all in" on Jones could have been a disaster. I put too many eggs in one basket at WCSU and went in a tailspin. Pretty sure I'm out of it now because I learned you need Plan B.

Literally the first sentence of this thread has my name in it.

And not only that but you just made up stuff that I said.

but you're now upset that I'm arguing with you.

Riiiight.

Good lord. The "point of the thread" is right there in the post that you are responding to.

At any point in the initial post did I mention WCSU? At any point? If so, please point it out.

See it?

What's your point? That I derail threads? We are 4 pages deep, of course its being derailed.

None of this should surprise you.

I lost 6 in a row for a PG in Smith. Ruined a final four team for a couple of seasons. Remember all the complaining and crying I did?

Of course you don't. Because I didn't complain or cry. I could have done better.
Um.

You're the one who brought up your D3 team in your own thread about some D1 recruiting strategy.

You derailed your own thread bud.

Thread was dead at that point, bud. cubcub attempted to insinuate that I won my 1st battle ever and I didn't know the agony of defeat. I screwed up royally and lost several. Screwed my team 6 ways to hell in the process.

Initial post. Anything about WCSU? Any of your posts, anything about AZ/Jone/your "all in" suggestions?

Seriously, you wanted to argue with me about something/anything and you seized the moment once cubcub revived the thread.

Oh it was dead before I posted? Cool.

But sure I'll satisfy your desire to argue with me non stop.

I never said you should have gone all in on that guy. You made that up.

No. A chance is all most/some/a few of us want. If it's only a 1 in 3 chance, so be it. You saw what happened with UNC-A/AZ. Take that away and just that A/B prestige planting flags on regional players with low prestige having no shot. Which is 1.0 all over again.
Or you could have put in more effort to get to VH. You didn't even max out.
1/31/2018 1:10 PM
Maybe that's not what you were insinuating would be the best strategy when I countered zorzi's desire to remove High from the equation.

1/31/2018 1:11 PM
You're not paying attention. I did get to VH and knock him to moderate. When the player didn't sign, I'd shown my hand. The ONLY chance I had at that point was to spend the amount of resources I felt comfortable with while maintaining other options. Aim high but don't get caught with your unit in your hand if you miss.
"Wrong.

You're ONLY chance didn't force you to try to get this guy while saving money for other guys. That was your choice. You had the option to spend more money which would have allowed you to compete against AZ. You didn't need a long shot dice roll to do that."
1/31/2018 1:12 PM
That's me telling you what you COULD have done. I never said that was the best strategy or you had a bad strategy by what you did. You're a defensive guy so I can understand how you took it that way.

I was merely pointing out that you had more than 1 option in this scenario. Which is true.
