Here's my point.

Typically once you have collected some data on a subject/test, you attempt to interpret the results. Otherwise, what's the point (right Mike)?

So, it'd be interesting to hear people's thoughts on what this data means.
Sure. Your data suggest that an equal number of people like it, dislike it or don't care one way or the other.

Interesting poll. You nailed it, bro!!!
I get that you're a trucker and this type of thinking is new to you. That's okay.
Actually, maybe this could help.

In your trucking business, you offer a new feature to your customers. It costs you a little more overhead but based upon what you've heard from your customers, it seems like a good idea.

After a year, you ask your customers how they like the new feature. It's an even split between customers who like it, dislike and who don't care.

Do you just say - well that's inconclusive. Guess we'll continue on with this new feature that costs us more money. La de da.
Does it cost WIfS money to do nothing with this feature? How so?
If you're either

A) losing customers
B) not retaining new customers

Then yeah it definitely does cost them money. They were making more money on this game 2 years ago than they are now.

Are they? Since I rejoined in Nov 2016, the population hasn't changed or slightly increased.

So how is doing nothing costing them money? Please be specific. I'm a dumb trucker.

Was Nov 2016 2 years ago?

From July '16 to Sept '17 Table

Lost 900 teams in that time period.

Major changes often result in disruption. Things have settled down. WifS, evidently, is satisfied with the current position, more or less, for the last 16 months.

Now, again, how is doing nothing with 2 recruiting sessions costing WifS money? Your brilliant poll proves that the CURRENT customer base is largely indifferent and any change will bother 1/3 of the them(assuming 1/3 like it and 1/3 does not). Please be specific.

It might be tough to read the graph, the axes aren't labeled.

The numbers on the vertical axis are number of teams. When that little blue line goes down, it means fewer people are playing. Fewer people/teams = less income.

Another one could be

- All the people who were REALLY against the change have already left. Only having 33% of people like this major feature of the change isn't very high. It doesn't offset the number of customers who were lost.

Or

- 33% of people liking a change is pretty much par for the course for WIS games so we have definitely met our goal and success criteria.
The first one is also invalid. Many who were REALLY against the change are still here. Some of them have even added teams. Weird, right? On the other hand, forum polls will always be biased toward complainers. People happy with the product are less likely to wander into a forum. You’re manipulating the data to make it look like it supports your position, you know, the one you were pretty sure “most users” agreed with. Predictable behavior, considering how you set up a skewed poll in the first place.

As to the second, sure. I don’t know what their goals were, and neither do you. But 34% loving it, 8% hating it, and 58% somewhere in between sounds reasonably acceptable for tech updates.

Hell, even the 1/3 that doesn't like it still playing. Or I would assume the lurkers are mostly gone.

So, as you have so expertly noted, the changes cost WifS a lot of money. Why do you think MORE change would be good now that things have settled down? Please be specific.

It's obvious that change was not and is not the problem here. And I mean it, it's OBVIOUS.

You say that major changes result in disruption. This is accurate. It results in losing current customers - not a ton you can do about that.

But where are the new people?? Why have they not replaced those long time customers? New user retention sucks right now.

Is that due to changes? The new people who were never around for previous versions of the game. Obviously not.

Here's an interpretation of the data supplied by TJ

- This shows that 66% of users don't have a problem with two recruiting sessions and no action required.

Here's another one

- This shows that just as many people dislike something as people who actually like it. Might need to dig deeper on this one to understand why.

Nope, as I explained to you before, you screwed up the design - likely on purpose - so you don’t know how many feel positively, but not strongly positive about the change. Invalid interpretation.

Does user retention suck? Since Nov 2016, the world population data suggests that it's either stagnant or slightly improving.

You should start a poll on what the population data suggests.

If it's stagnant then obviously new user retention is not good. Or else it would be growing and growing.

I'm waiting for the Niche Game excuse. Any minute now some dummy will say that.

I mean, you always hear speeches like that to stakeholders when year end results are released. Or during the SOTU address.

Everything is great guys. We're either stagnant or slightly growing! All is well!
