Are we not going to talk about the school shooting in florida?
How do you stop a shooter?
Well, for one, you don't let him have a gun.
Sounds easy, right? How will you enforce that?
By imposing gun control that doesn't allow felons to have guns and making sure that people who purchase guns know how to use them? Both of these things would have prevented the shooting in Florida.

Look at Australia. Zero school shootings in 20 years. They passed gun control 20 years ago. Coincidence?
gun control will only go so far. Many of those felons you talk about already have guns. You think they are going to turn them in because its the law? They are felons. They do not care about laws.
So get a search warrant and search their house?
On what grounds will you get that warrant? Legally.

So if we cannot get rid of literally every mass murder it is a failure? Be logical.
where in there did I say it would be a failure? I just said it won't fix the problem. It may help, but the problem will still be there.

Australia put in gun control 20 years ago. They have not had a mass murder since then. Coincidence?

Many people are pushing for the United States to model it’s gun policy after Australia with extremely strict gun control as well as gun confiscation. They point to Australia having “no mass shootings” since 1996 when these laws were enacted.

I would like to tell you how the media, gun control advocates and liberals are again wrong with this agenda, as well as explain to you a bit more about the Australia phenomenon. First, regardless of what the media and liberals tell you, mass shootings have occurred in Australia. Let’s look at just the last 3 years.

In 2011, there was a mass shooting in Hectorville. In 2014, one in Hunt, and again in 2014 one in Wedderburn (which was a 4 hour siege of a neighborhood).

“But wait, that’s only 3 since 2011! We’ve had 29 in America alone in that same time period!”

This is also a bit of trickery with numbers and comparing statistics. Yes, there have been 29 in America since 2011, and I do not dispute that. But let’s dig deep into numbers- Australia only has 23 million people living in it (with a large amount of those very spread out). But let’s just stick to quantity and not density. The United States has nearly 14 times as many people, at nearly 320 million. So if you compare apples to apples, if Australia had as many people as the United States and the ratio of mass killings to total populace remained the same, Australia would have 42 mass killings compared to 29 in the United States. That is 13 more!

Finally, if someone really wants to kill someone, they will find a way. Let’s look at the recent Cairns child killings in Australia where someone killed 8 children with a knife. Or the Quaker Hill Nursing home arson in Australia that killed 11 by fire. Or the Lin killings, also in Australia, that killed 5 with a hammer.

The facts are this: gun control doesn’t work, and pointing towards programs on other countries that are statistically manipulative does not solve the problem. Bad people will still find a way to get guns or kill by other methods. I would much rather people have the right to own a gun and give them the capacity to defend themselves than take away that right and leave them defenseless from those that will kill or harm regardless.

There were about 3 per year before 1996. You are incorrect.

isn't doing something, fuggin anything, better than status quo?

Lol... Sounds like the libs with the wall.... If it won't stop every illegal 100% of the time then it's f'ing worthless!!!!
The wall won't even stop 25%. This will. Costs less too.

Pretty sure we have a law saying felons can't have guns. Yet a couple days ago here in Chicago and officer was shot and killed by a four-time felon. How did that happen?
Because after a felon is released he can get a gun.
So then, back to the same question.... how are you going to enforce that law?
By actually imposing that regulation?

It's like legalizing cocaine because even if it is illegal people will still use it.

I mean, yeah, people could, in theory, get one, but it is much more unlikely.
We ARE enforcing it... You think cops are just letting felons run around with illegal guns?

It's ineffective because felons acquire guns illegally without asking the police first.

Which goes back to my first question.... How do you stop a shooter? People with intent to kill will find a way to get a gun. How do you stop them when they shoot?
You call the police?

No, my wall argument is that the cost compared to the actual rate that it would stop the problems you stated is about 25% of the time. Gun control costs less and, you know, actually cuts the amount of mass shootings significantly.

Is it?

The 1994 Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act, which included the assault weapons and high capacity magazine ban (that expired in 2004), authorized the expenditure of $30.2 billion dollars, or about $45 billion in today’s dollars.

How did this $30.2 (or $45) billion dollar investment in gun control work out? The wall would cost LESS and actually STOP people from entering the country illegally.

The wall will stop around 25% of people. Over 50% come in through planes and 25% can come in other ways.
