Well, first off religious Jews are not cultural Jews. Cultural Jews are not better off. Anyway, my best guess is that Jews started off working primarily in financial jobs, and because of that most have not fallen into poverty one way or another. Is there not a 'banker Jew' stereotype in this country?
we were slaves in egypt....we didnt like carrying around the pharoes on their sofas and desks.....we decided we wanted to work at desks one day........during the slavery we became good at getting out of physical labor by having a good sense of humor and bad arches....the pharoes liked our jokes and our tenacity of having good excuses......we talked the pharoes into letting us help them do their taxes ......thats how we got into comedy and the financial business.

And c'mon man......... speaking relatively white men can't jump! I damn sure know that. I'm one of them and I couldn't clear a high hurdle on a low day...........

And let's face it............ if it weren't for the "colored's" propensity to like shiny Cadillacs, wild women, tomcattin', oversize baggy pants, expensive unlaced tennis shoes, tattoos, and jewelry, they'd have plenty of money........... just like the Jews........... who don't spend a nickel unless it has a string on it........... ain't that the way things are in the right wing world???/ That's what I thought.

So why do black people have the culture of 'survival mode' aka living in poverty?

Me, I resigned in July to spend more time with my kid. I was coaching baseball at the DII level.

The truth is only black people can get black people out of poverty. The government can't do it for them. They've tried on many occasions and failed. I am typically not an advocate of formal education, but in this instance it is probably the only saving grace. I higher premium needs to be put on education. The opportunity is there. College funding is available to anyone who is willing to work.

Maybe, but it still starts at home. I believe I told you the story about the 6th grader who told me "I don't have to do my work, I'll always receive a check." Undoubtedly this kid picked that up a two home. I understand that the reason blacks were in poverty originally was because of whites, but the only way they can get out is to help themselves. We can live in a naive and think that there aren't some internal cultural issues holding them back and that it's all due to outside influence or we can face reality (I know it's unpopular and uncomfortable to do this) and realize that black communities have issues in which THEY will have to resolve.

I agree with this. A major (partial) answer is education. knowledge affects behavior. Look at the national smoking rates. They are the lowest ever and NOT through prohibition.......... thru education!!

Baseball Coach! Awesome. I played some college hardball. Loved it. SS. Yea, I know a white weak-armed SS. But I could hit some. Line drives, no power.

DII eh. Based on comments made here that I view as (no offense meant) borderline homophobic, and your stated views on Christianity's place in our society I would venture you coach for Bob Jones U?? I thought that was in South Carolina not Geogia.......... Just kiddin you some......... hahaha.

At least I'm convinced you are a real citizen/voter. Do you believe that wife of yours needs an military style assault rifle at home for protection. If so, I hope she's NOT a sound sleeper........... The weapon might end up being used against her, while you're gone. I know......... it's a LOADED question!

Yes, but we need to equal school funding, correct? Then it is truly the persons responsibility and theirs alone?
