remember that scene in anchorman where they go super badass and are walking down the street with machine guns and wmds........i see a distorted bunch of teachers transformed into the badass anchormen.

My daughter has a teacher who plays guitar in every class. Unless he is an Antonio Banderas type with the special guitar case I don't see teachers with weapons as something viable.

I believe that there are plenty of retired policemen in each community who would cherish the job.

Not much disagreement here.......... I suspect because there is a significant LACK of trolls involved with this discussion.............
OK. Not armed teachers but trained armed "officers" of some sort. Question. Particular for you Jewish fellas.

Ever been to a Jewish Academy as opposed to a regular public school??? MUCH MUCH more secure. At least the one I've been to.
I suspect that that is because as a JEWISH school they've already considered and figured out that THEY may be more attractive targets to some miscreants looking to kill innocent children. No names need mentioned. There's LOTS of miscreants.

Recently, we had a school shooting in Farmington, (Aztec, I think it was) NM. They just released the autopsy results of the "shooter".
I won't mention his name. Shooters shouldn't get attention!! That's (partly) what they want.
Anyway, he killed two students........ both Hispanic I believe.
He had NO drugs or alcohol in his body. He DID have numerous tattoos of Nazi (swastikas, etc) symbolism......... as well as the words Build Wall tattooed ON his body.
The school shooter in Florida was (by all reports) of a similar political persuasion and wore a MAGA ballcap (Made in China, likely)

Meanwhile, our ******* in chief remains silent on the subject of ALT Right/White superiority movements, words and actions.
I guess he HAS to, what with them being about half of his significant hardcore remaining followers..............
The dividing of Americans and the promoting of dissension within our Country is just who's goal/aim?
certainly it couldn't be (actually) an intent of the Great divider President......... or could it?
Just WHO IS He working for?

Ripped from an old employee of mine's facebook page:

In Washington state, we have what's called third party liability... that means that I have to pay to take a class every few years which certifies that I know the dangers of the Alcohol that I serve to customers. It is MY responsibility as your bartender to not over-serve you and ensure that you can handle yourself.

This means that if I over-serve you and you leave my bar and crash into someone, slip and fall, or go home drunk and burn your house down, I can lose my job. I can also lose my license to pour alcohol so I can no longer be employed in the industry in WA state. I can also be personally held liable for any damages... as in- I can be personally sued for anything that YOU do.

On top of this, the bar itself must be licensed to sell alcohol, and must pass inspections. A WSLCB agent can drop by at any time to ensure that we are following state law and protocols.

Violations can result in fines and a full-on revocation of your license.

This is all because we are serving a product to people that we all know is dangerous, and can be very deadly.

But I can go down to the Bullseye right now and buy a rifle, 4,000 rounds of ammo, and a 100 round drum mag... and the second I am off of the premises, the store washes their hands of any and all liability.

If I don't lie on my form, and I pass my NICS check (which is a system that is not kept correctly updated) then I'm good to go.

The BATF can only make ONE unannounced visit to an FFL per year. Gross violations are misdemeanors... not felonies. The BATF rarely revokes licenses and even more rarely pursues criminal charges against dealers with gross violations.

Here's a really interesting fact- between 2004 and 2011, BATF states that FFLs reported 174,679 firearms missing from their inventories. :o Just.... missing. poof. gone.

Missing guns pose a serious risk to public safety because they they cannot be traced back to an initial purchaser.

Do you have any idea what would happen to me if I just didn't know where four or six cases of liquor went?

I would allocate more funds to law enforcement on both the state and federal level. Rather than sending bushels of $$ to the Middle East, Europe and Asia. Use those monies to fund local law enforcement.
Agreed, all 3.1 billion that we give to Israel can be much better spent here at home.

There were armed police officers at the high school in Florida.

Do you think the Fort Hood shooter might have expected to meet armed MP's on the base?

You had to go there, eh?

There was one officer for a school of roughly 4,000 students at Douglas HS. Definitely not enough.

As far as Fort Hood, the soldiers were not allowed to carry loaded weapons on base. MP were, but had that poor rule not been in place, that tragedy could have been averted.

How many MP's do you think there were for that 1 shooter at Fort Hood?

How do you prove that would have been averted?

When president Reagan was shot, how many people around him were carrying guns? What kind of deterrent was that for a mentally unstable person?

A battalion is the answer by the way

Which Fort Hood shooting are we talking about?

Also from my friend's Facebook

Last night at a CNN town hall meeting, Dana Loesch (Spokeswoman for the NRA) said this to Emma Gonzales,

"This individual was nuts. And I, nor the millions of people that I represent as a part of this organization that I’m here speaking for, none of us support people who are crazy, who are a danger to themselves, who are a danger to others getting their hands on a firearm. And we have been, for over 20 years—and I have been—screaming about this, which is why I’m here"......"This madman passed a background check. How was he able to pass a background check? He was able to pass a background check because we have a system that’s flawed. Did you know that the federal government doesn't even require states to submit criminal and mental health records to NICS?"

I seethed with rage while watching this, waiting for someone to call her out on this statement, but unfortunately, no one did.

It's true that the system is flawed; the background check is entirely dependent upon states voluntarily submitting criminal and mental health records. Some states don't require their counties and municipalities to submit data, and so, information is often altogether missing, or it is only getting updated once or twice a year.

It's terrible. In fact, many of the mass shootings that we've had in this nation have occurred precisely because of this issue.

Dana Loesch got that part right.

Here's what she left out... in 1993, congress passed the Brady Bill, which mandated a federal background check for the purchase of a firearm, and created the NICS system that we use today. It required states to submit criminal/mental health records to the system in a timely manner.

In 1997, a Montana sheriff named Peter Jay Printz sued the federal government, claiming that the mandate was a violation of the tenth amendment. In other words, forcing states to submit the data of their citizens was a violation of states rights. He was backed by the NRA, and won this case in the Supreme Court of The United States.

So, since 1997, our federal background checks have been full of holes and built on an underfunded system that our States aren't even required to take part in.

Not only did the NRA back this case, but you'll never guess what Jay Printz does now- he's a board member of the NRA.

The NRA isn't trying to fix the system... the system is broken BECAUSE of the NRA.

The loopholes and gaping flaws aren't there because of an irresponsible congress or federal government that just isn't doing anything. All of those problems exist because the NRA saw to it that congress and the federal government COULDN'T do anything.

Either Dana Loesch doesn't know the history of her own organization (which I find difficult to believe given her position and prevalence within the organization), or she sat on national television and lied straight into the faces of people who just buried their friends and children because of a loophole that her organization fought and payed for.
