I don't agree. If your don't use the public camp how do you know which players were exposed there. More information > less information. Public camp is less expense than assistant scouting trips.
Well if you don’t do the public camps, you don’t know which players were exposed there. But that’s not the point. I actually thought they were equal in price per recruit, but I definitely could be wrong. But I’m not arguing assistant coach/public camp. I guess my argument would be described best as if EVERY coach did a public camp, every coach sees the same recruits. If EVERY coach does their private camp, it’s not going to be ALL the same kids at each schools camp. (Obviously coaches have different methods so Its a stretch to say “every”, but I’m using it to prove my point)
As far as more>less. Of course. But there are budgets. And the idea is to do the best you can with your budget. And I don’t feel like running a public camp to “see which players were exposed there” is a great strategy. To each his own. I will say there is no “wrong” way. But some are better than others.
