Minus defense isn’t inherently good or bad, even at extremes. It’s a tool as part of your overall plan. I played -4 with a 2-3 base, which is arguably even more extreme. The setting of the defense isn’t simply about defending 3s, though I realize many use the % attempts behind the arc as a quick starting basis for setting, I do it as well. You’ll notice from the pbp, we hit a lot of jumpers, which was basically what I intended. Jumpers and free throws.
I got a favorable sim, no doubt. It’s not like I was expecting to win by 17. I figured it would be close, and I figured I had a decent chance at the upset. The free throw discrepancy accounts for a bit of that, though not all.
