Come on cccp, Dorothy says all poor people are the same. Poor people in Haiti are no different from poor people in Detroit or Chicago, who are no different from the poor in (gulp) Kansas, who I'm sure are no different than those in Africa is his "wisdom". Discussing the World's or Country's problems with this guy is like discussing quantum physics with a newborn. He's so freakin' clueless and has so little idea what really goes-on outside his little bubble, that he's not even worth it. Typical know-it-all young Liberal, who actually has no (and I mean NO) clue.

I will admit that I live in Kansas, so we really don't have inner cities like Chicago. So you are right on that. Explain the difference between poor people in Central Kansas and poor people in Chicago.
Poor people in Haiti live on highways and kids get run over. I'd rather be poor in the US.
DUH

As CCCP said, poor people are poor because they're bad with money. You don't see rich people buying lottery tickets because they understand that it is throwing money away. I see poor people all the time in gas stations buying 50-75 dollars worth of those things.

All3 and CCCP, don't forget that Tang does NOT believe in personal responsibility. It is ALWAYS the institutions and circumstances fault.

Many "poor" people have 8-10 extra hours every day they need to fill. Also, some of those same people have more children so they get more "assistance" handouts from people like YOU. Explained clear enough for your naive mind?
You may need to repeat it 100 more times.
Keep doing it. While you are at it, talk to some people in poverty. Maybe what they say will surprise you.
They are in poverty because they are bad with money.
No, they are in poverty because they don't have much money. Actually, there are some who are in poverty because they are bad wityh money, but not every poor person is the same.

um, you also don't see rich people buying lottery tickets because they are already rich.

Come on, Wylie. When you play the lottery, you are throwing money away. Poor people have less disposable income. Sounds to me that if you spend money on a losing proposition when you're already poor, then you're bad with money.

Also, most rich people became that away because the understand how to properly manage money.

First, strikeout, not every poor person plays the lottery. Yes, playing the lottery is throwing money away and if you don't have much money its pretty stupid to waste it that way. Yes, many poop people do play the lottery, but not all.
Second, not all rich people became rich because they are smart with money. Many of them had ancestors that were smart with money.

Of course I believe in personal responsibility.

But when the institutions are not equal, it is pretty difficult to decide what is personal choice and what is misfortune.

Yes, but you're looking at the exceptions. I know exceptions on both sides.

A relative of mine is a millionaire. He inherited the wealth. He is terrible with money.

A lady I know lost her husband. She has kids. They were in between life insurance policies. She's poor.

Those are exceptions.

No you don't. You have never once said that people struggle because of their own choices. You're in denial.

that rich people don't play the lottery is a pretty crappy generalization. Proof? I know plenty of people with money that play the lottery. I'm not saying wealthy because I really don't know any truly wealthy people to make an observation about. I do see really wealthy people throwing **** tons of money away in Vegas though. all the time.
5/4/2018 12:57 PM
I was just using the lottery as an example. I'm a firm believer that the wealthy, as a general rule, are better with money. That is why they're wealthy. Obviously, there are plenty of high income earners who aren't good with money, but having a large income doesn't necessarily make you wealthy either.

Really? Pretty sure I have. I said that some people are bad at money and are lazy but I am not convinced that that is the majority.

So Trump is better at money than me?

Obviously I can't answer that as I have no clue who you are, but there is about a 99.99999999999% chance that the answer is yes.
