As CCCP said, poor people are poor because they're bad with money. You don't see rich people buying lottery tickets because they understand that it is throwing money away. I see poor people all the time in gas stations buying 50-75 dollars worth of those things.

All3 and CCCP, don't forget that Tang does NOT believe in personal responsibility. It is ALWAYS the institutions and circumstances fault.
Of course I believe in personal responsibility.

But when the institutions are not equal, it is pretty difficult to decide what is personal choice and what is misfortune.
No you don't. You have never once said that people struggle because of their own choices. You're in denial.
Really? Pretty sure I have. I said that some people are bad at money and are lazy but I am not convinced that that is the majority.
I love your optimism. (No sarcasm here)

I was just using the lottery as an example. I'm a firm believer that the wealthy, as a general rule, are better with money. That is why they're wealthy. Obviously, there are plenty of high income earners who aren't good with money, but having a large income doesn't necessarily make you wealthy either.
So Trump is better at money than me?
Obviously I can't answer that as I have no clue who you are, but there is about a 99.99999999999% chance that the answer is yes.
I am not totally convinced. We don't know how rich he actually is. We don't know his taxes. He has made a couple of TERRIBLE monetary decisions.

Shouldn't have popped in to read this thread. Just more arguing with Tangy which is a waste of time. Not picking on anyone here (Sorry Boris) BUT I had to make the visit worthwhile and I spotted an untrue generalization. It is quoted below.

"Immigrants these days come here and expect a hand out or perks."

For many (I'd say MOST!) immigrants (BOTH types!) that statement is just not true. At all. For many, they do the jobs we won't.
Like the landscaping on a whole bunch of rich folks SECOND/vacation homes down in Phoenix and Tucson and San Diego and Paradise Valley and Palm Springs and Las Vegas, and.......... well, you get the idea, don't you?

#1) Gov't handouts
#2) Only form of recreation they can afford
#3) Cannot afford contraception
#4) Lack of education
#5) In middle class families many times both parents work and when not they want to give their kids the best and having more kids makes it difficult. So they stop at 2 or 3 to ensure that the kids can do all the sports, fun vacations and they can pay for their schooling. The poor don't necessarily see it that way. More kids = more government support.

Proof is on Google. Multiple sites. It is financially not finantially. I am not sure how babies can be good at anything.
#1) Uhh but as we have established, having babies is not good for one's financial stability.
#4) Correct.
#5) You don't think poor people want the best for their kids? Do more kids = better finances?

Prove it to me yourself. I looked it up. I found nothing. Make your own arguments.
#1) More kids = more welfare. Google "Welfare moms"
#4) I know
#5) "Best" is different. Middle class want college and maybe grad school, expensive vacations "Disney". Can't do it if you have more than three kids unless you are a 1%er or close to it. The poor just want them fed and clothed. Apples and oranges. But #4 is the main reason.
#1) OK, so more kids = better financials. Do you want to wager on whether families with more kids are better off?
#5) Well, yeah. That's called survival mode. It's really, really hard to think future when you can't provide for your kids.

Damn you're dumb. Google Sebastian Telfair and see how many brothers he has.

I have experienced being in the poor community more than any of you. I grew up in a poorer community. I went to a bad school. Doing this stuff is my dad's job.
I told you 100x. My parents came here with $100 and didn't speak English. We had to walk around at night and grab furniture people left on the street. We had food stamps. My parents saved, learned English and did better for themselves. They didn't have 3 more kids. I know more about poverty than you will ever know. When they came to this country they took a RISK. Immigrants these days come here and expect a hand out or perks.

This country provides who wants to be provided for.
1. How wealthy were your parents growing up? How wealthy were they before they immigrated? Were their parents good role models? Did they get an education?
2. How do you know? Why do you just assume that?
#1) My dad's father died in WWII when my dad was 2. His mother died when he was 18.
#2) My mom had two parents
#3) They were Jews in Russia. ZERO wealth. Communist Regime and all.
#4) Same way you assume I am privileged for being white. Was Larry Bird privileged for being tall?

Of course. Look at the Trump brand. He net worth. Everyone makes poor decisions at some point in their respective careers. Mark Cuban when bankrupt twice. Trump has made more good decisions than bad.

Many "poor" people have 8-10 extra hours every day they need to fill. Also, some of those same people have more children so they get more "assistance" handouts from people like YOU. Explained clear enough for your naive mind?
You may need to repeat it 100 more times.
Keep doing it. While you are at it, talk to some people in poverty. Maybe what they say will surprise you.
They are in poverty because they are bad with money.
No, they are in poverty because they don't have much money. Actually, there are some who are in poverty because they are bad wityh money, but not every poor person is the same.

How many times have Trump businesses gone bankrupt?? I know Trump supporters will just say that is good business (which I question) but if he is so good with money he wouldn't start businesses that constantly fail.

Poor people are poor for a long period of time because they are bad with $$
That all depends on how much money they started out with. If you inherit $50 billion, you'd have to be really bad at money too not be rich any more during your lifetime. I know several rich people (and some not so rich people)who go out and buy a new car every two years whether they need one or not? Is that being good with money? Through work I talk to this one guy who told me about a year ago he had 32 cars. he has since bought a few new ones. Is that being good with money? How many cars can he drive at once? Yes, if I had many millions, I would probably have a few cars, but at least 32???
Yes, some poor people are poor because they are not god with money. Some are poor because they can't earn enough to get out of poverty no matter how good or bad they are with money. They have no extra money to manage. It all goes for rent and food and other requirements.
