redshirting upperclassman in D3 Topic

Wondering about thoughts from more experienced/successful players about this. Good/bad/mixed? Seems like better players use redshirt pretty liberally, I have enough trouble getting minutes for everybody the way it is, may be a way to step up my game

Some sophomores will take it without a work ethic hit but not all. Juniors take a massive we hit and seniors drop to 1.

So, does it turn out being worth doing?

I redshirt sophomores almost every season. Because i offer the kid starts and minutes his freshman year, telling him how great he is. Only to sit his *** on the bench for the whole year the following season haha.

But sure it's worth it. I don't redshirt anybody that loses WE. So it's always worth it. The only case where i would redshirt players that lose WE is the senior thing. They drop to 1 WE. But.... if the reasons are beneficial, why not?

If you have one senior that's a PG, and you have 4 solid JRs (SG, SF, PF, C) and next season you can make a title run.... redshirt that senior PG with a quickness. He'll have A+ IQ all of next season, and you're on your way to title contention.

I red shirt sophmores as often as freshman. Added benefit is you get to see what their potentials are after a year of gains.

I don't understand what you mean about potentials. Potential is shown as early as when you're scouting the player. Can you explain a lil more what you meant? (I'm guessing you meant if categories are green, by the end of redshirt sophomore season, they've all turned blue at that point... maybe?)
