If a real pitcher throws in a blowout he accumulates fatigue. That's the only reason for having a mopup standing by.
Sometimes I draft 2 mopup guys, one who can spot start in case I underestimated how many innings I needed. This allows me to cut it close when drafting innings without wasting much money on a pitcher I might not need..
I hadn't thought about the spot start prospect with a mop up guy just in case innings were scarce.
Now I'm thinking, if you're playing a struggling team, you could use that game to rest a bunch of position players AND spot start a mop up guy and help fatigue during the season. Thank you for making me think of this.
