Mike answered virtually all of my endless questions over the years, which earned him the right to be a curmudgeon in my book. He was also effective at driving away some of real cancer around here: cheaters/alaises/etc. He also led goofy sideshow discussions in chat, which made worlds more social and improved owner retention, at least among those that don't get triggered easily.
Mike felt that worlds are better off when lame ducks are replaced before the season ends (to sign FAs, reduce fatigue-related injuries, make promotions and so forth before rollover), but current WIS administration held that the resulting impact on win/loss record-keeping overweighed those benefits (which seems shortsighted, particularly if the incoming owner agrees to it, and since overall record doesn't garner benefits anyway).
