man, I wish I knew why you hate us so much. Your mom and dad and neighbors. Why hate yourself?
and I don't hate you. I just think you have subscribed to an ideology that was founded on hunter-gatherer necessities. Things have changed. The world has changed. People are different. We have a different set of rules than we did in 1860.
I'm not sure you understand what the world was like before regulations and laws. It was lawless. It was chaotic. It was not safe. Laws keep us safe. Republicans who know something about the law will argue against equal pay for women because they say they don't need a law to guarantee equal pay. Well, they're not everyone. You're not a pregnant mother of three who was raped, grew up in the projects, and works at Tim Horton's because she doesn't have the money to go to college. I'm guessing you neither know, nor wish to know anything about Americans less fortunate than you.
The fact is that hard work will soon be a thing of the past. Everything is getting easier. I promise you that you don't have to work as hard as you did twenty years ago, if only because you have the Internet. You don't have to go to the library. You don't have to read. You don't have to know anything. Everything you need is at your fingertips. Technology ensures that we don't have to work as hard. Progress is about making things easier.
You say you don't want anything to be given to you. Fine. Don't benefit from innovation or creativity. It's not my responsibility to bring you into the 21st century. Reasonable people are becoming more tolerant, and cognizant of economic realities. Don't fault us for that. If you want to exist in a Victorian-era fantasy, that's your problem.
