Clever. My niece is a teacher. She doesn't feel she is overworked or underpaid.

So, you know one teacher who feels that way? I know dozens and I don't think any of them feel they aren't overworked and underpaid.

Human nature means that most people in any job feel this way. Look at our athletes.

That being said my daughters learn about 50% of their stuff online now based on online tutorials assigned by the school. Foreign Language and Math are outliers to an extent. I also have to help them here and there. Teaching like anything else is supply and demand. If you want to earn more then teach at a private school. Teachers also do tutoring on the side and may coach sports to earn additional incomes. They collect a pension and have relatively inexpensive benefits.

I don't think they are treated poorly.

For the the most part, Palestinians are powerless. They’re stuck in miserable settlements with no way out.

I agree. I learned that about Twitter too late. Its for celebrities and miscreants, nothing more. My issue is with the people protesting. Why protest Israel vs. Hamas or Fatah? Internally those political leads are stealing from the people and blaming Israel and the West for their problems.

For example the Kurds are mistreated in Turkey but very few people raise a stink. If the Palestinians and Kurds switched locales then people would not mention Palestinians as much but would be all over Israel for mistreating the Kurds. My point is when its Muslim on Muslim perceived injustice people turn a blind eye. But when Jews are involved the world comes down hard. Thank goodness for US support.

No but I work for a private institution not a government entity. If I didn't like my comp or perks I would leave for another job. Teachers chose to serve the greater good. They didn't take that job to be wealthy. They get strong benefits and the intangibles of teaching our future generations in lieu of higher comp. They also get the summers off if they want them.

so, because teachers work fr the government they should expect to pay for supplies? I'm pretty sure people in the military do not have to pay for their own bullets, or uniforms. I know they did not go into teaching to become wealthy, but most of them also did not go into teaching to spend the little money they make on buying supplies for their classrooms. I guess we just disagree. I think teachers should get more pay and respect than they do, you think they get summers off and are not underpaid..

My police officer friends pay for some of their own stuff too. It’s just the cost of doing business unfortunately. It’s either that or having fewer teachers. They can choose to teach elsewhere or go to private schools as no one is forcing them to stay where they are. Right?

Private schools tend to pay less, at least in California.
