I’m listed as “good” for wants success on a recruit. I’m A+ prestige and coming off a championship. Any ideas why I’m not listed as “very good?”

In the past I’ve been suspicious preferences don’t update between RS1 and RS2 but have been told that’s not correct. Fwiw, this particular recruit is for RS2 and I was hoping preferences would have updated after the season ended (I was also listed as “good” in RS1.)

Its the last 4 seasons so those 2 non tourney seasons are holding you back from Very Good. Prestige is a good indicator but can be misleading due to baseline prestige.

Also, its nearly impossible to get VG at D3. Much easier at D1/D2

I feel mine is off too, but the other direction. I on my first full season of recruiting at West Florida in Phelan. And my success is "good"

The team went 4-23 overall and 2-14 in conference as a sim last season!!!!!! The RPI was 147 and the SOS was nice, because it's part of THE best conference in Phelan D2 (shout out to the runner up RMAC conference. Yes, i'm fueling the fire!).

I understand the "strong conference" preference being very good. But how is the success "good"????

I think pretty much any postseason tournament gets you to a "Good" for Wants Success if you're in a D1 Big Six. Here's what my four-year window looked like after taking over Nebraska in Naismith. I was still "Good" in preferences going into season 96...

I am also skeptical that the Wants Success preference updates between RS1 and RS2. Last season, I was Neutral to start the season, and still Neutral in RS2 despite a 2 notch bump in prestige. However, I opened this season at Good. I'd be interested in knowing whether you are VG at the start of the next season. Has anyone ever actually seen a shift in this preference within the same season?

This is a great question and if I forget to update this thread with my preference when next seasons recruiting starts kindly remind me.

I was wondering about this as well, but there doesn't seem to be any definitive response. I'm in the 4th year of taking over a D1 team in a strong conference. My first 2 seasons didn't result in any postseason play, my 3rd season was a NT 1st round, and this season was a NT S16. Currently my success preference is neutral despite the NT 1st round exit last season. I'll let you guys know if the S16 this year bumps my preference for recruiting period 2.

I really hope it does update as I've targeted RS2 recruits based on an expected bump in the success preference and prestige.

Just an update, the preference does NOT update between RS1 and RS2. Mine was neutral to begin the season and it remains neutral after a trip to the S16.

Just to confirm, I submitted a ticket to find out and got the following response, confirming that the Wants Success preference does not update between RS1 and RS2.

Based on my own experience and feedback on the forums, it appears that, unlike all of the other preferences, the Wants Success Recruiting Preference doesn't updated between RS1 and RS2 based on changes in prestige. Is that the case? If so, is that intended, or is that a bug that you plan to fix?

That's correct, because it's based on the past four seasons of your team's success, excluding the current season.
