Would thoughts on the 255M have changed if I had made the Round 2 cap 80M? It would have made it more difficult for sure, but I am not sure to what degree

We will probably gauge that better when we see the writeups. I know that I went back and forth to build both rosters simultaneously to make sure the permutations worked. You needed players with amazing seasons who also had basically one pretty good one at half the price. Presumably the same challenge would exist at 80M but with a third the price instead. I can't say how that would have affected the potential pool since I wasn't looking to fit that salary level, but my guess is it's the same problem with a different solution.

I'm more comfortable with below 80m caps, even it's been years since I've played one. I have never played a true 255m league (as opposed to a league, like a progressive, that simply had no cap), so that has me nervous. I'm not familiar with the finer points, so I expect to get killed.
$255M caps are somewhat of a crapshoot. But management can play in too, if you can play matchups better or set up your lineup to each ballpark better than your opponents.

$130M was the easiest theme for me, not surprised nobody is worried or spent the most time on it.

If round 2 were $80m then round 2 would've been more difficult but round 1 wouldn't change much, maybe easier to fill in the final spots because we'd have more viable options for round 2.

I'm generally bad at 255m leagues, but I'm still more worried about that 90m league becoming a total disaster

Ozo, if I may ask, did you reject any pitching staffs from the Coors league?
8/14/2018 7:59 PM
Good question. I did not. Some people are definitely going to need to do some creative managing, but I approached it with the mindset that I would only reject if there was no way it could work.

Only one team stood out enough to potentially be flagged based on innings (jbohrman with 1,479) but his pitcher quality was among if not the best across all owners (team WHIP 0.97), so I held off. I am also a bit worried about loyalcanuck (1,502 innings with a higher-end team WHIP of 1.21) but, again, not enough to pull the trigger on a redo. We'll see what happens.

I almost wish I had rejected jbohrman's just so he could rant about it in his Roster Selection Strategies post. The one he did two years ago for Round 2 is probably the funniest thing I've read on this site.

Even without any context for the themes he was battling or knowing the (now legendary in my mind) jbohrman at all, I am literally wiping away tears at the Brickyard Kennedy section. This made my year.

Crap.

The scary thing is I almost went with a team that had fewer IP. It won’t be the first time I’ve been at the low end of IP in a league, sometime it works out ok, sometimes it definitely doesn’t.

After that draft the Brickyard section pretty much wrote itself.

You were just en fuego with that post, man. Take a bow.

PS: How's Tris?

I messed that draft up so bad (for myself, I mean, in addition to everyone else), since I was moving across the country at the time (with a two week time window from getting the word to needing to be there) and did nowhere near enough research to compete against Round 2 competition. I look at my choices now and facepalm instantly.
