I was not an angel in HS or College. But I always had a serious GF so I was never in positions like that to your point. But what if some whacko accuses me because she has me confused with someone else.

I'd be LIVID. I think this event has set our country back and divided it even more. I am glad we can discuss this logically.

That is my point. After this is over and GOP picks someone else there needs to be a new standard set on allegations and proof. Because even if they cannot be proven, you and I both know many immediately believe the accusers and the accused is guilty until proven innocent.

Gorusch didn't get this and i truly believe it's because he was clean.

False accusations of sexual assault are terrible. Luckily, they are about as rare as false accusations of other crimes...burglary, battery, etc.

It's unlikely that Ford is lying.

The double standard regarding sexual behavior has been around longer than me............. that's a while.
But, IF you get charged with such an event criminally and it didn't happen, in THIS Country there is more than a decent chance that YOU will get your day in Court and if NOT Guilty, with competent representation, you are LIKELY (Not guaranteed, mind you) to be able to "prove" your "innocence", though a not guilty verdict doesn't really mean you didn't do it, of course. People get off on crimes all the time.

IF your accuser in that case is wealthy and lied, etc. to try and "ruin" you, then you could likely successfully sue Her and take a large settlement from Her. IF she's a street person or some other kind of pauper you're pretty much F'd.

It's a job interview in front of the American citizens for a lifetime appointment on the Highest Court in the Land.
The ONLY thing that SHOULD be determined is the "applicant's" character and qualifications for the lifetime position.
Honesty is a part of Character. A VERY important part for someone on the highest Court in the land.

All other BS aside. Kavanaugh's credibility has been SEEN and judged by many of the American voters and citizens and been found lacking. He simply is NOT credible, as Pres. Trump has stated.

IF You were in a similar situation (non criminal job interview, etc) you would be at the MERCY of the parties representing the organization interested in you to give you a fair chance to defend yourself. My guess is that the chances of you receiving that "fair" process is as varied as the number of corps/organizations that exist in this Country.

BUT, it just isn't fair to blame the women who finally feel empowered enough to tell the TRUTH for the pendulum's over-shift--or the liars who assert false charges in attempts to somehow gain personally for where we are now. There's a ton of things our society just has F'd up to the max. IMO, the entire national priorities are F'd up. I'm sick of the whole mess politically.

Only three Dems voted for Gorsuch. The Dems saw this as futile so they needed to up their game. IDK if Ford is lying but I do know that the timing is fishy and if she is, Kav's rep is forever ruined. We saw this with Anita Hill and her allegations were provent to be materially false and yet she continued to have a prominent career and Thomas is forever tainted. I don't like it. Well...I do a little as a father of two young teenage girls as now boys will not come near them. LOL.

I disagree that Anita Hill's allegations were "proven to be materially false" as that is just BS. Witnesses who were prepared to (basically) corroborate Hill's claims were purposefully not called in a blatant example of REVERSE discrimination. He was treated different by the DEM. controlled Judicial Committee (think Joe Biden!) JUST because He was a black man.

And yes, You are RIGHT Boris. Thomas is forever tainted. Precisely one of the bigger reasons we should NOT have another "tainted" Justice on the SCOTUS. It would be extremely damaging to the Court and I'm almost positive Chief Justice Roberts would agree.
