Shoutout to bothways... when I was calculating the Owner Rankings for this year, I kept thinking that the formula was overvaluing his stats and ranking him too high. He's surprised me by outperforming even that ranking and is in good position to make Round 2

Thanks Ozomatli! I'm hopeful that I'll sneak into round two at this point but a few of my teams are sputtering during the last 6th causing some concern. If I get three into the playoffs that'll help, but overall our pace has slowed for sure.

My upward climb continues despite my one playoff-close team's attempt to throw away the division lead it's had most of the season. I'm actually at a point where I can skip my worst starter in the Coors league, and yet I'm still 5-5 in my last 10 and 5 games out. Hopefully it's just a scheduling thing, and I'll be all right once jfranco and NebHusker face those teams.

Is it me or are the late inning mathematics a bit screwy? In the same set of 6 games I lost a game by giving up 10 runs in the bottom of the 9th (not Coors, no mop, 100% relievers) and 5 runs in the bottom of the 8th as away team. Teams usually don’t get more competitive when getting their teeth kicked in but the Sim makes it fairly commonplace to blow such a lead.

Three 1-5 rounds in the last 2 days

There's a lot of things that are way more commonplace in WIS than real life. The amount of times my closers blow 2-3 run leads in the bottom of the 9th, after having two outs and the bases empty is ridiculous.

It's always baffling to me when pitchers/teams play in a pronounced pitchers park, yet their stats are significantly better on the road.

With 40 games remaining, I had two teams with an 8 game division lead. Those teams are now 3 and 5 games back in second place. So tired of this in WIS. There's maybe a handful of examples of that kind of thing happening in MLB history, yet it seems to be a frequent occurrence in this game. A team that dominates for 122 games shouldn't just lose the ability to win any ballgames for the remaining 40.

That's it guys. After going 2-4 for like 10 straight sessions and now 0-6. Blowing multiple 6 run leads and that isn't even in the Coors experiment. I am done. Just putting all my teams on auto-pilot the rest of the way and find something better to do with my time.
I hope you change your mind. You're over .500 overall with two teams doing extremely well. You have an excellent chance of advancing.
The WIS gods sure helped him out in the $100M league. I lost 15 games in the standings to him in a 30-35 game span. 8 game lead to 7 game deficit.

I was 18th when the R2 themes were announced and am 26th-27th now, I think. It appears that my teams' success is inversely proportional to any time I spend tinkering with R2 rosters, as if somehow it knows I'm thinking ahead and punishes me for it.
I hear you! Totally experienced the same thing! I was in 16 place in a pack with 4 other owners all a game or 3 apart with less than one 6th of the season to play, and I started building some teams for round 2 because it was looking like it was okay, and suddenly i've been in free fall. it's been a constant slip to 17th, 18th, 19th, and now 20th. Had 3 solid playoff teams and now it's only 1 solid team with the other two tied. Gulp!

1-5 with four 1 run losses.... ugh

I've started to see a silver lining if I play myself right out of R2. I mean, I know I'll get soundly pummeled if I advance, so I'd be saving myself the ego bruising that would come with such sustained carnage. See, now I can be fine either way.

For what it's worth, I am planning on running non-WISC versions of 5 of the 6 Round 2 themes. The only one I won't have time to run is the Increasing Salary Draft.

I have 3 playoff teams which is 3 more than I have ever had. Sadly with 2 100-loss teams I could win the WS with all 3 and still miss out on round 2 by quite a bit. Still, for never having a single playoff team, I will look to build on this experience for next year. Staring to get a feel for lower caps, especially minimizing IP's needed to maximize position players. Someday I will reach that elusive cage! Someday...
