A handful of my draftees are considering football/college.
Does anyone know how the simulation determines if they do this or not?
Is it based on Bonus salary alone? If so, how much % over asking price does it require to sign them?

You just need to wait it out. Some will just sign. Some will increase their demand slightly. Others will take the alternate route.

Don't change your offer until you get the next message from the player or agent.

I think it's pre-determined. The owner has no control. Do what is reccorecomm above and hope you are not one of the unlucky ones. Also, note that if you draft any undecided prospects with comp picks and they don't sign, you will not receive a type D comp pick.

Couple of things:

1/ If and when a player rejects you can re-offer if you wish. Save the Inbox message sent to you because that has a re-offer link in it. The negotiation link will disappear from the draft page so the message link is critical if you want to re-offer.

2/ Once you have offered demand, never retracted it, and the player has rejected outright, you are in line for a Type D pick next season.

3/ If you really want the player and not the Type D, you can re-offer multiple times. One time I eventually got a player I really wanted on about the fifth or sixth offer.

4/ tlowster's right, you can't get a Type D for a player who was drafted with a comp pick.

Thanks everyone, this was helpful.

btw - one of my guys who was considering college was originally asking for 200k. before I posted this thread - i offered him 600k.
Then I got this message:
"Just wanted to let you know that I've changed my mind a bit. After some research and soul searching, I've changed my demands to better fit my situation. Let me know if you still want me in your system."
Changed the offer back to 200k and he accepted.

Does anyone know if this first point has changed? I have an undecided draft pick that rejected my offer. I saved the e-mail, but there is no link in it. Am I missing something obvious here?

It's not a link in the email. It's a link on the main email page if I am not mistaken. Its a box next to where you open email. Hope this makes sense.

Ahh, got it. I know I had to be missing something easy here. Thanks for the help!

Lol glad you were able to decipher my clumsy explanation.
