How does Pujols stack up to other players about the same salary in the sim ie....Foxx

He's a modern, right-handed HR hitter so... generally not well. But, he walks a lot, hits a bunch of doubles and some of his seasons play decent defense, so he's not useless

Thank you for the insight

He's a tougher play the higher the cap gets, for reasons already stated. If you're comparing him to Foxx, then it sounds like a higher cap situation and he's probably not the ideal play.

I would add that using Pujols during his good range 3B season isn't a fool's errand. Outside of a few Bakers, a couple of high average Kell years, and Brett, third basemen are sort of hard to come by. consider Pujols there.

One of his 1B years has a large number of + plays and that's the only one I would consider. He underperforms as a hitter.

All the guys before me have 100x more championships than me, but I remember him being decent for me before. Think I used him a couple times in $120 mil cap leagues so there’s wiser places to spend that money, but those two high average years were pretty good for me. Just don’t expect 30 homers.

He and many other modern players that draw a lot of walks tend to not hit near their RL power numbers, generally speaking. But he will get on base, hit doubles, and drive in runs. Berkman is one of my favorite modern players in the Sim, and he tends to follow that pattern. Rarely does he hit more than half his RL homers numbers. ..Salary cap, opposing pitchers and ballpark can change that...

Guys like Pujols, a RH hitter, face many RH deadball pitchers in the SIM. Those deadball pitchers squelch HR and XBH very well. That is the primary reason his numbers trend lower than they should...in a progressive, he can be deadly. There he isn't normally facing all star pitching staffs...

I just used his '09 season in a $100M league, at Turner Field.

He hit .296/.388/.509 with 32 HR and 91 walks. Turner is a pitchers park...he hit .363/.455/.602 with 17 HR and 51 BB on the road. He also had 30 + plays at 1B.

He wasn't facing any deadballers though.

curious to know his Turner Park slash Jtpsops... must have been awful. What did he bat at home, something like .230?

Ya, my whole offense seemed to struggle at home.

He hit .225/.315/.410 with 15 HR and 48 RBI
