Good grief. I'm the 2nd-ranked owner in my division? I think there needs to be a recount. I was sure I'd be submitting a roster first.

I'm probably confused here, but isn't mdc2276 ranked higher than me in the NL West?

Good catch! You're up, newark

Well looking at the divisions...

Brianjw got the division of death... every single owner is in the top 10 of the WISC standings and the worst record in the Round 1 $65M theme was 87-75 which belongs to pre-season #2 Discodemo.

Oddly enough, Ozomatli got a pretty decent division. Jdh34 was a great pick, and personally dougpalm isn't that scary in low caps. mpitt76 might be the only real threat in the division.

jfranco77 has a deceptively tough division. On the surface, bothways and magicdreamer finished near the bottom of the cage, but both were actually far better owners at low caps than high caps.

jmissirlis is probably feeling pretty good about his division. He didn't have anyone put into his division by the other owners, and the redcped pick was great.

mildnhazy might not be feeling so good about his division, as rbow923 and jbohrman are top 5 owners by the pre-season rankings. They didn't do great in the $65m theme in round 1 though, so he can hope that they repeat their less than stellar performance.

I'm not sure about my own division. Donburgh is certainly a great pick, but I'm not sure what to think of dippedncrack. If I had to guess, this division is probably middle of the road in terms of difficulty, although there is a lot of uncertainty.

For reference, I don't think Jdh34 stuck out to me really -- everyone here is really good. But I knew that, by protecting myself with a lower ranked owner, brianjw would be likely to hit someone else in the NL in Round 1. I had to hope that that person would then, in return, hit him back. This essentially let me avoid a hit on myself while achieving a hit on him. If I would have given him discodemo myself, he would have given me rbow.

It was a gamble, because there was no guarantee that mildnhazy or jmissirlis would hit him back, but it paid off.

I should clarify that when I say a pick is great, I don't mean that it is because the owner is bad (no one that is "bad" would make it to the cage). What I mean is that these owners weren't particularly successful in the $65m theme in Round 1, and they weren't rostering a lot of "cookie" players.

I agree that it likely doesn't matter a heck of a lot what division you are in. Everyone here is just as likely to create a great team as an average one. Having said that, jfranco and jmissirlis definitely flew under the radar in their divisions, avoiding the traditionally strong owners in this tournament.

Picking magicdreamer for myself was a pretty big gamble. Not that I'd ever want to bet against someone good enough to make it this far, but I'm hoping he can't repeat his 65m performance.

The bigger problem for me is that the division of death is in my league. Oh, and also I'm not that good at low caps myself :P I was very lucky to do as well as I did in round 1.
