So if the 2018 player salaries become available part way through the draft, they are available to be drafted?
No

I might be painting myself into the penalty corner, but here it goes:

2016 Kenley Jansen 4,041,431

When I first saw that I was picking second, my initial reaction was, 'Oh, come on!' Was really hoping to pick in the bottom half to get a read on what some (smarter) others were thinking.

1915 Cy Falkenberg 2,228,116
It true that seeing others strategies has a big impact on your selections. But that doesn't mean they know what they're doing. A bad choice or a monkey wrench choice can trigger a chain reaction more easily than a reasonable choice.

At this rate we will need to start the timeslots with Round 2

1885 Tip O'Neill $3,086,898

I'll just say I'm surprised to see how high some of these R1 salaries are. It's like we took the $2M minimum theme from R1 and pushed the cap up.

If you could draft owners to do badly in this draft, I'd recommend picking me. No clue.

Good news, that leaves more of them for you. There's some really good low $$ players but you can't use them much. Are they worth using up a draft pick? Nobody knows how this draft is going to play out and that's half the fun.

What if several teams plan poorly, all of the expensive players are snapped up by necessity and some teams have to go back 10-15 rounds to find a player in the last round. Do they get 50-75 penalty points? This draft could get really weird.

It's a good point. If a few teams hit say $10,000 with many rounds to go, others will feel compelled to do the same and all hell could break loose. There are only like 50 position players with at least 1 season above $10k salary. Maybe there can be a rule that you can't go above $10k before round 20.

$10 million I mean

I take it back. There are plenty of expensive pitchers to choose from. the penalty points should be sufficient for anyone who messes up.
10/23/2018 12:28 PM
That's where it gets weird People drafting expensive pitchers they never intend to use. I still think we could run out of players if drafters don't foresee the danger or just roll the dice to get the good players first...

Hmmmm, this is a very slow draft, and it's allowing for a lot of strategy to be bantered about in the open forum. This might give a slight advantage to those of us in the later part of the first round.

It's interesting to see so many great owners so flummoxed. Great theme Ozomatli!
