Ineligible player seasons Topic

Hey everyone,

Was hoping to have 2018 players available by now but thought of another way to breathe new life into this website. I would like to put together a list of players that are currently not available in the database because they don't meet the minimum IP or PA requirement that could be useful players in the SIM.

Most notably is 2007 Joba Chamberlain that just missed being eligible by 1 IP but posted a 0.38 ERA and .75 WHIP in 24 IP.

I will personally propose the idea to seble that the thresh hold be lowered for IP and PA in order to get some more cookies and refresh the staleness that has plagued this site for years.

Thanks in advance for your dedication and extensive research!

I'm not sure how many would become cookies though. Pitchers below 25IP aren't going to have much value in the SIM, especially if they're not SP seasons, where you could at least try to stash them away to help you in the playoffs.

Free Herb Washington.

Great idea. I think it's a very cool concept. Anything to shake it up a bit would be fine by me. I would offer the following players:

Karl Spooner, '54 Brooklyn, RL 18 IP (would translate to 19 IP/162, close enough for WIS work). Karl allowed 7 hits in those 18 innings, fanned 13.5/9ip, had a 0.722 whip, and didn't allow a run, let alone an earned run. Moreover, those 18 IPs consisted of two complete game shutouts.

'73 Ron Cash of the Tigers. He's not related to Stormin' Norman Cash, but for one brief shining moment he was better! In '73 he had 46 PAs, with a slash of .410/.467/.487/.954. Would bet he'd be a decent fielder, off the top of my head about C-/B- at IB. What a great RH pinch hitter he'd make.

Will try to remember some more. These names were off the top of my head, but I had to look up the actual details.

There's two more to add to the list. Thank you for the input!

Can anybody tell me why some seasons that ARE eligible don't show up in search? For instance there's an 899k Kurt Bevacqua that I love as a PH but the only way to select him is to click on another of his seasons to bring up his whole career and then select the one I like. The way I discovered it was in the Hitters spreadsheet, he would have gone completely missing if I just used the normal search. There must be other hidden gems out there like this...

Bevacqua comes up for me just fine

Do you have Min Games set to 0?

Every player in the database can be found through search. There are no hidden players.

Another thing that occasionally happens is players whose only position is DH (i.e. they have NO defensive grades) don't show up, unless you UNCHECK the "include secondary positions" box. Dave Winfield 1995, for example.

2002 Willie Bloomquist slash line of .455/.526/.576 in 38 PA's.

very helpful thanks - I default to having secondary positions CHECKED with 0 minimum games played

How many are you seeing. Sometimes it only kicks back 50 results and you need to change that.

These players pop up all the time when I’m doing my roster twists leagues. The ones that would be great PH but have like 48 ABs. It should be 50 PA minimum, not 50 AB
