You go to Davidson because they gave you more attention and told you your the next Stephen Curry, whereas at Duke you’ll be just another great Duke player. You will be Davidson, you’ll be their most famous athlete besides Curry, while no one will remember you at Duke. You’ll be drafted higher because of the stats you put down, and there’s a better chance you’ll turn into a bench, non-factor at Duke. You like Davidson’s coach better than Coach K. Your parents went to Davidson. You like closer to Davidson, you always dreamed of going there.
Those are all different examples of why someone would choose Davidson. Keep in mind Duke has 3x as likely chance to land the player than Davidson, it’s not a coin flip.
But I mean APs are built into the equation already that got Duke to 74%.
I guess my point is, a lot of the things you've mentioned should be put into the game as a recruiting preference/tool, although all of the main factors, in which a recruit would come to your school are already in place. Let's say you want to go do Davidson and have a best friend there you want to school with, that still doesn't represent the 26% chance of signing that place, not even close. But let's say, for argument sake, it does. In that case, that's probably something that should be added into the game.
Other problem is with the 20 HV/1 CV limit, although I do think there should be a limit, it balances things out to the point where the lower prestige school, such as Davidson in the example, can get to high at 26%, get lucky and end up signing that player.
