I have a developing rookie on my Toledo team that looks like a great player if I can keep him healthy through his development. However, he is a 66 Health and I am worried about an injury derailing his development. Is it smart to simply bring him off the bench in the late innings to reduce the chances he gets hurt, or is it better to play him as a starter every day and just hope he stays healthy?

Dingo Jenkins? Nice name.

If you budget 20 in training and med then you really should have nothing to worry about even if he gets hurt.

You have to play him for him to develop. Take the injuries as they come. If you have an opportunity to put him on the 60-day DL, that can help maintain health.

A question about the 20-20 training-medical bumps. I have read on another thread that the physical gains (such as speed, power, AS or velo) only last for the remainder of the season. Is that true? In the meantime, while they are on the 60-day, do they experience gains in the things that are more repetition/skills-based like fielding, control, AA, etc?

I have a young team with a lot of prospects. I'd like them to get every bit as much development as they can. But I'd also like to save some money to spend in other ways. So I'm torn between 20-20 and, like, 20 training-12 medical.

1. No, that is not true.
2. I go 20-16. Training is for development of physical traits and for trying to keep them from getting hurt. Medical is for speed of recovery once they do get hurt.

They sometimes will revert back to their old ratings after rollover. Not sure what causes this.

I had this happen to some players and not others. I think I had read that a player has a max on what a rating can be so if because of the injury bug it goes beyond this, it will revert back to what the max is for the rating

The only rating I have seen revert is health. Like a guy whos health went to 103 then back to some thing different after roll.

The late great Jimmy Powell that MikeT used to always post about jumped to 101 vs. LHH after a DL stint and then reverted back after rollover. I think Mtanton is right that they revert to their cap if they exceed it.

Use player rest to your advantage...especially in Rookie, low A, and high A. Place the guy as your starter, but be sure to have a backup player to put in during the 6th or 7th inning. This way he gets into games, but he doesn't get super tired throughout the season. Injuries are going to happen and it sucks when they do. Both my 1st round pick and a new DITR got hurt after only playing a few games.

By keeping your guys above 94 (or so) fatigue, you should be able to avoid injury.

Just out of curiosity, how did you come up with the "94" number?
11/30/2018 8:38 PM
I set it at 99. But I have no idea if playing under makes injuries happen more often but it would make sense. It would also make sense if it made them play at that % of ther ratings. Again no data to back it up just my opinion here.
