defense or floor balance or hygiene stats
Boards and efficiency are other possibilities but I’m less likely to give on those.

Particularly nice starts so far...
  • D. Wade and B. Wallace – Arguably decent value for both where they were picked, and a very logical pairing. The duo provides a nice start on pretty much everything.I haven’t figured out how to win at this cap level with Wade, but others have.Pairing a one-man offensive wrecking crew with a board lord, and both of them are defensive aces…it just makes a lot of sense.
  • Bird and Magic – I’m old enough to be dazzled by the nostalgic glitter created by the thought of these two bitter rivals and fierce competitors running the open court together. They both get nerfed a bit by the WISNBA sim, but still, this one-two punch takes care of usage and assists, and provides a good start on rebounds. The fork-in-the-road question with Bird is whether you go for D or 3s, and whichever path isn’t chosen will dictate strategy the rest of the way.
  • D. Jordan and S. Pippen – I’m giving a nod here mainly because DeAndre seems to be great building block in this league.I’ve been surprised by the number of times he’s gone deep into the playoffs, and I’m pretty sure he’s been the centerpiece on a couple of champions.Great start on boards and defense.Usage must follow, but I have a good feeling.
  • A. Davis and H. Whiteside – Giving some credit here because Hassan was basically the perfect second mate for Davis.Continuing with a monster D theme, and bringing the rebounding flair that 17-18 Davis lacks. Also, good hygiene so far.
  • M. Malone and S. Nash – Classic offensive balance and pretty efficient to boot.Good start on boards and assists.Plenty of room to rise or fall from here but I always like this kind of beginning in this league.
  • D. Howard and C. Billups – See above.Billups’ star has fallen a bit, partly because of his notably mediocre efficiency but also because he’s old news by now.But he still bring a virtually unique combination of assists, D, FTMs, 3s, and few mistakes.I won a title here pairing these two dudes. The formula makes sense.

I was looking at 4 other guys (Chandler, Mutombo, X, X) before I picked Horford in the 3rd. I don’t think he should go this high, but with my Dreb% advantage being what it is, I thought he would be a great add to allow me to take the best player available in the 4th.

Points won’t be an issue on my end this time around. I think I’ll be able to get some role players moving forward. 40 minutes set at PG, SG and C each.

Where did dbkc come from? So far through 3 rounds he's killing it IMO. Who doesn't like the big boy Barkley at 100% PF? Then add 90 defenders with Draymond Green and Victor Oladipo. I'm very curious about the round 4 pick. This looks like a tough team to beat so far.

Oladipo's season could be a 1st round pick

Thanks guys! I’m new but I’ve been studying hard. Only thing Dipo is missing is passing so I’m glad I got Draymond. I hear this league is tough, so I’ll be happy to even make the playoffs.

I would say it's in the Manu/Klay range. Less efficient than either, but a better defender. Not terrible on turnovers, but a little worrisome if you already have some. Would be hard to make the passing work if you didn't already have Draymond, Giannis, Magic, etc.

I would disagree. I think Oladipo gets drafted ahead of both of those two moving forward. Dreb% is pretty strong.

actually, 08 Manu's DReb% is 14.2, 0.1% lower than Oladipo.

I don't think you can pick him before Wade or Penny. I don't see any way he gets picked in the first round. He shouldn't be picked before Kawhi. Late 2nd/early 3rd seems about right.
