Poll: Which Offense to Pair with Slow Tempo Zone? Topic

Zone is actually very simple. It's not that different that the other defenses. Block is a little more important and Ath/Def is a little less.

Interesting. I’m not sure whether you’re using an alt account but this is only you’re 5th season. If this is you’re only account, why are you stuck on zone before learning the ins and outs of the other defenses? In my opinion, zone is the most complex and unforgiving defensive set when it comes to odd/unusual outcomes. There’s not that many HDers who can give you expert advice on it either..
This is my only account. I got zone on my first team and had quick success. I like not having to take a full roster and being able to gamble. I’m in touch with some very successful HDers and I’ve learned how zone works.

I disagree big time. I created a thread awhile ago about difficulties I had with zone. No one could give me a straight answer that others agreed with. Ill post the link when I find it.

There's great advice in that thread. Block Mike and it's easy to digest.

People disagree how valuable block is, but the consensus is that block is more important in zone (particularly the 2-3 C) than in other sets.

And the wizard (and maybe Mike but I block him so I don't what drivel he was saying) was the only one not agreeing.

Zags, that thread wasn’t about difficulties with zone, that thread was debating how important BLK is. I have people that have won NC in zone helping me navigate.

Also, that thread is as straight of an answer you’ll get in any thread. You don’t see a lot of agreements in the forums.

Although Mike was annoying, he was able to make it to a F4 after winning in the Little E super conference using a 3-2 zone. His advice was useful after cutting through all the bullsh*t he typically spewed. Anyways this is digressing off of the main topic of offense, but leaving zone behind was the best choice I ever made HD wise.

During that time I was attempting to dive deeper into understanding the formulas behind zone. So although the title wasn’t called “difficulties in zone”, I was stumped on the importance of core attributes while using zone. Which was a difficulty for me. Obviously not for you Sportsbull because you’re the HD prodigy. I’ll call on you for some zone tips if I ever need any.

I’m not trying to be disrespectful. All I’m saying is I’m using zone for the time being and I’ve stayed consistent on that. I’m always open for advice and if I’m successful with zone (win a NC), I could try to give you the knowledge of zone that I know. Thanks for the help!

And we wonder why we can't keep new users around?

Give the man a break. He's doing the right things by reaching out to successful coaches (including me), successful ZONE coaches (NOT including me! Ha). And he's off to a good start.

He also made a FF quicker than Mike. Not that it means much, good or bad. But he's off to a good start. Reach out to help guys like this. Guys that show interest. And put forth effort. These are the coaches we want to keep around in this game. Don't push them away.

To any new coaches, topdog is the best mentor you can ask for and honestly, this guy has helped me, backed me up, and set me up with very successful coaches. Topdog is the best.

I think a lot of us coaches here would help new coaches as well. Im not the only one. Hell, I bet Zags even would. But put yourself in a new coaches shoes. Experience goes a long way in this game. Even I'm still learning things. And I'll pick on the shoe's and MikeTs of the world. They'll be here tomorrow and beyond. I just don't like the idea of arguing with the new guys. Even if you feel the new coach is dead wrong about something, let them fall on their face and learn for themselves.

you know how much stupid crap i've said here in the forums? And then look back later, thinking "man i've come along way". I may not be here to look back at those things today if I'm playing with a horrible community

Incorrect, Mike made a FF in his 2nd season

Zags, you’re clearly missing the point with that response and further just being a jerk to me. I was nothing but respectful to you. Instead of having a normal debate, you sarcastically made fun of me.

I don’t mean to toot my own horn, but at this point I feel like I have too. Unlike MikeT, I made the FF before my first recruiting class graduated and with all of my players, not the previous owners. I assume I made my first FF before you and will assume you I will win my first NC in less seasons than you did. I have reached out and been reached out to some of the best owners in the history of HD, and I have dedicated a ton of time to this. These are the types of owners you want, active ones that love the game. By making remarks like these, a lot of owners feel unwanted, unsuccessful, or just flat out quit.

I’ve said a lot of incorrect things to mentors I’ve talked to and they kindly correct me and I’ve learned everything I know from them.

It’s ok to tell a new player they’re dead wrong, just don’t be a jerk about it. Disregarding the entire comment to say my achievement is bad is just you not listening to topdog and doing the same actions that can get new owners to quit.
