Do we have all the keepers in? Timed on Monday would be MLK day but going timed all the way Tuesday is a fair bit of time.

Yes, we do. They came in this afternoon while I was on kid detail. Just logging in now. I'll post them, but we won't go timed until Monday.

Keepers are posted. pumpkin can pick whenever he's ready.

So we're back to picking whatever (head shake) people can find time in their busy schedules, it only takes a minute or two, if you know what you're doing?

(Head shake, again) Seriously, protecting Eduardo Alfonso or Kenley Jansen, anyone that would want to steal them has their own problems, both of whom they could replace with a half dozen players from their Own team, instead of Protecting... SP Bill Singer, Andy Messersmith, Jon Matlack, Fernando Valenzuela, Jerry Koosman, Mike Hampton (who does very good in WIS) Burt Hooton, Jerry Reues... Just to name a few, I know there's more? Sorry, you know what they say, you Snooze you Lose???

Damn - I didn't think of protecting any of those starters. I normally don't shoot for 2000 IP in this league, but maybe I should start doing that - spending 90MM on pitching would also still allow me to squeeze the likes of Bo Jackson into my roster as well. Thanks for broadening my horizons...

Umm... why would the Dodgers still want to protect STARTING pitching when they already have Greinke, Kershaw, Sutton, Hershiser, Eichhorn (which is way over 1100 IP right there). What the Dodgers need is hitting.

yeah, as a division rival I wouldn't ordinarily point this out, but the Mets really screwed up not protecting Hampton and Koosman. going to be very tough for poor alleyviper to cobble together a rotation with only Gooden, Seaver, DeGrom, and Harvey.
1/18/2019 9:53 AM
Hope I didn't ruin their teams "Secret" you got to protect the players that you need, or players you might think other teams might want, not just your favorite players. Like if I would have saved McCracken, you can only start three outfielders at a time... Most teams have 50 years worth of players to select from & if somebody gets stolen, like my Willie Stargell, there was only a half a dozen other players at 1B to replace him with, so what's the big deal & remember it's just a game we're playing, not real life?

The Dodgers SP, in their 5 SP rotation, I think maybe only 2 or 3 of those guys are worthy of being there, there's other Better Dodgers SP to replace them with, that are still out there (why?) IMO you got to go with Good pitchers, Not current, Flash in the pan, One Hit Wonders, that aren't actually very good?

The Dodgers have Plenty of hitters out there to select from, at EVERY position, you just have to look for them & avoid the players you might Think are Goats, but actually tthey're Not... like Mike Piazza, I'd rather have Hundley or Ferguson, Martin & Scioscia Ain't bad either?

Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke, Orel Hershiser, and Don Sutton. Which of those four guys (Eichhorn is a high innings reliever) would you call a "flash in the pan?" And who cares about career stats? You're using ONE SEASON.

I was ready all day yesterday but sinfonian is fostering four kids which is kind of more important than imaginary baseball. Unfortunately the keepers went up after I was available and my top choice got pulled back so I'm reassessing now.

This isn't a prog league, you just need one good season. Otherwise, why is Rico going in the top five any time he's available?
1/18/2019 10:37 AM
Disregarding the validity of any particular statement, players who have not been protected should not be named in the draft thread.

Yes officer? I would like to report a murder.

Also I wholly encourage anyone to draft Mike Hampton or Jan Matlock from me.
