I applied to a long shot DI didnt get it so I think I will settle down at DII to get my feet wet again. Thanks all for the feedback.
Is a smaller conf DI a bad idea? I am looking at a couple who have other coaches to help slightly in recruiting. Or should I just go to DII. I haven't recruited at a small DI with the new recruiting.

By bad idea I mean without having played the game recently or recruited at a smaller DI with the new recruiting

I don’t do private camps, and my assistant scouts everyone in the pool I assemble to level 4, so this is probably just a matter of us using different scouting strategies. Sure, you don’t control what preferences the players have, but if you cast a wide enough pool, you’ll get plenty of options.
You are describing DI. You can't do that in DIII.
I can, the pool is just 125 instead of 250.

125 & 250?? Where are you getting these numbers? D3 recruiting options are a lot more vast than D1 with a lot less money.

Either way, expect it to take a few seasons to get a feel for it. It’s also a good idea to have some conversations with a mentor or 3 via site mail; I recommend doing this before playing around with the shiny buttons in scouting. No rush to scout. The only time sensitive scouting actions prior to actual recruiting are public camps, and you don’t need those.

How I’m getting these numbers.

Specifically, 125 and 250 are based on 4 scholarships. With 3, it’s more like 100 and 225. Roughly.

Shoe with all due respect, using assistant for 3 levels after using FSS is just a waste of money at D3. It obviously depends on location, but like this year in Eastbay, I got 185 people to L4 with FSS, private camp, public camp, assistant.

A lot of people just get players to L3 and indivual scout after, which I understand, but it doesn’t work for me personally.

I used the strategy you told me of FSS then assistant 3x per player for the first 3 years of HD recruiting for me. Didn’t work as well as using camps and other methods because assistant 3x is a waste.

Nah. It’s just a different strategy. Public camps are cheaper for the level (which is the reason they exist), but you have less control over who is in your pool. You can get *more* players to L4 using public camp for one of the levels, but not necessarily the *right* ones. Depends on location too, as you say.

I’m talking about private camps. Public camps are barely ever efficient, but they are in my location. Private camps are always more efficient than your strategy unless you’re in an EXTREMELY dense area.

Aren’t private camps 60$/player/level? Just like the assistant?

It’s $30 per level because it’s $60 per player and 2 levels per player. Assistant is only one level per player and therefore $60 per assistant. If you don’t believe me, either schedule one yourself, ask veterans, or read forums about private camps.

Lol, looks like I knew this at one point, but after I mostly stopped using camps, forgot it.

I just like that shoe said "Nah".

You're starting to loosen up a bit! I love it. Soon he'll be crackin' a Pabst at the bar with Benis! I can see it now.

Doubt it. You were just school’d by the prodigy. All the HD guides are bout to be rewritten real soon. Especially the 125 D3 pool nonsense.
