While we're waiting for peekay's last pick of round three, a couple of notes.

Many of us will have our dagger picks ready long before round four is over. Let's not pollute the thread though with 24 dagger picks until round four is over.

When researching your dagger pick a couple of things to look at.

Make sure you look at secondary positions. Your opponent's team may only have one good third baseman, but he may have two good first basemen, one of whom has a third base rating. If you dagger his one good third baseman, he may roster two $ 1 million thirdbasemen and roster two $ 6 million first basemen and then play one at third once the season starts.

There are some teams, especially the ones in 1973 and 83 that have more than 25 players available. If you load the team as a whole you will only get up to 25 players. The ones you'll be missing are the lowest salaried ones which might be important to your dagger. The way to see if you missed anyone is to either load the team, not as the 83 California Angels but click on a utility spot and ask the search engine to load all the 83 California Angels. Then do the same thing for innings. You'd think loading each way would get you the same result but it doesn't. I will get rid of this confusion next time I run this league by just saying load each team as a team and you only get the 25 or fewer players that show up that way. I didn't realize the different results depending on how you load them until it was pointed out so it was too late to change this year. In short though the rule is you can use any at bats and innings the player performed for that team that year.

On stadiums, you get to dagger one player and one stadium. I don't know how good WIS is these days at including every stadium, but theoretically each team will have four stadiums to choose between playing in. If you have the 53 Cubs and 63 Cubs you may only have three choices. If you dagger Wrigley Field, you kill both of them. If you only have three choices because WIS for whatever reason didn't include one of your stadiums then that's just bad luck. Your opponent still gets to dagger one of your remaining three. The only way you would get out of the dagger is if you only have one stadium available. Then obviously you'd have to use that stadium.

One other thing that's become apparent while building your team (and the team you're trying to screw) is that you have to pay attention to partial seasons vs. full seasons... If the player has 2 stat lines when you look him up by team in WIS, you have to take the LOWER one (which is the partial season), because that's the number of ABs he had for that team...

Now I'm confused on two fronts:

1. I show Peekay's pick as the 1st pick in Round 4, not the last pick in round 3.
2. I thought the ruling was any at bats from that season/team/player was going to be allowed.

Confirm or call me an idiot on both issues please.

The last pick of Round 3 was fire screwing me with the '23 Brooklyn Robins. Peekay is indeed the first pick of Round 4.

1. Correct
2. Correct -- did I word that badly?

To Toddcommish's point, it can be even more complicated.

Let's say Joe Schmoe played 2 at bats for the 83 White Sox and 450 at bats for the 83 Braves. If you load the 83 Braves as a whole team you won't see Schmoe listed. If you load all the utility players for the 83 Braves you will see him listed with 450 at bats. Those at bats are not allowed as he didn't have them with the Braves.

Here's a real world example.

I just picked up the 83 Tigers. One of their players is pitcher Dave Rucker. He was traded from the Tigers to the Cardinals during the season. He pitched 9 innings for the Tigers and 37 for the Cards. If I load the Tigers as a team he doesn't show up which is correct. If I load the Cards as a team he shows up with 37 innings which is correct.

But if I click a pitcher spot on a blank roster and ask the engine to show me all 83 Cardinals it will give me two options for Rucker.
Rucker ..............Cardinals ......................37 innings
Rucker................Cardinals.......................46 innings.

Obviously you would use the 37 innings he performed while with the Cardinals.

But if you ask a blank roster screen to load all the 83 Tiger pitchers you will only see one option
Rucker.....................Tigers......................46 innings.

Thoise innings were pitched for the Cards. You can't use them if you have the Tigers. It's confusing but that's the way it is. You can see it with Rucker.

I may be wrong, but in the draft center under seasons if you put it to full/partial you will not get any combined seasons - I think you will only get full or the partial seasons a player had that specific team...

You dagger the owner in your division that you didn't screw in rounds two or three.

Fire -- I think you have it.

I never knew this setting existed, but it appears to be what we need.
