While we're waiting for peekay's last pick of round three, a couple of notes.
Many of us will have our dagger picks ready long before round four is over. Let's not pollute the thread though with 24 dagger picks until round four is over.
When researching your dagger pick a couple of things to look at.
Make sure you look at secondary positions. Your opponent's team may only have one good third baseman, but he may have two good first basemen, one of whom has a third base rating. If you dagger his one good third baseman, he may roster two $ 1 million thirdbasemen and roster two $ 6 million first basemen and then play one at third once the season starts.
There are some teams, especially the ones in 1973 and 83 that have more than 25 players available. If you load the team as a whole you will only get up to 25 players. The ones you'll be missing are the lowest salaried ones which might be important to your dagger. The way to see if you missed anyone is to either load the team, not as the 83 California Angels but click on a utility spot and ask the search engine to load all the 83 California Angels. Then do the same thing for innings. You'd think loading each way would get you the same result but it doesn't. I will get rid of this confusion next time I run this league by just saying load each team as a team and you only get the 25 or fewer players that show up that way. I didn't realize the different results depending on how you load them until it was pointed out so it was too late to change this year. In short though the rule is you can use any at bats and innings the player performed for that team that year.
On stadiums, you get to dagger one player and one stadium. I don't know how good WIS is these days at including every stadium, but theoretically each team will have four stadiums to choose between playing in. If you have the 53 Cubs and 63 Cubs you may only have three choices. If you dagger Wrigley Field, you kill both of them. If you only have three choices because WIS for whatever reason didn't include one of your stadiums then that's just bad luck. Your opponent still gets to dagger one of your remaining three. The only way you would get out of the dagger is if you only have one stadium available. Then obviously you'd have to use that stadium.
