Today's topic: Police accountability

Do we need more accountability for our police departments or are they just fine? If yes, what areas need to be improved upon? Please support your answer.

Yes. Long story short, cameras are good. We need justice system reform. Police should not be connected with the people whose task it is to sentence them. An officer who has done something wrong should not be able to rebound at a different station.

Cameras are a huge help in this area. Not only the ones most officers are now wearing, but the ones just about everywhere in our society. Harder for any wrong-doing on either "side". Id an officer commits a crime, he should be held to the same standard as anyone else.

#1) Police officers should pass annual physical and mental test. Fat police officers are a disgrace.
#2) Let them do their job. Anyone who watched the WIRE knows that their job sux a lot of the time.
#3) They need to be held accountable.
#4) They need to be respected.
#5) They need consistent and constant training.

That's pretty vague.

You're just upset over the Pats. It was not that vague.

How will you hold them accountable? What does police respect mean?

1. there should be 2 donut breaks a day.
2. there should be no ticket quotas.
3. there needs to be more foot patrols in teams.
4. there needs to be more neighborhood police officers.
5. there needs to be more bilingual officers.

Annual assessments with peers and superiors. Physical and mental tests. Respect means if you insult the PO expect a retort and not a kind one. Conversely if you treat them with respect they should treat you the same way.

if you insult a police officer he should say sticks and stones will break my bones but names will never hurt me.

but he was 25 and graduated medical school.....he was about to make life and death decisions every day.
he was not a kid.
i mentioned child pornography because even virtual child pornography is illegal because it promotes abuse of children.
racist ...really racist pictures promote racism.
how can a dr. do that.
he will be recalled if he does not resign.
Not defending him. I know next to nothing about him, but people mature at different rates. A 25 year old is not necessarily more mature than a 21 year old, just like a 30 year old is not necessarily more mature than a25 year old. Dino, can you honestly tell me that you never did anything stupid/dumb when you were 25? I know I sure did.

he/she should just say there's no need for that kind of talk, and otherwise ignore it. If it persists, he/she should ticket or arrest the person.

What do you mean by retort?
If you call them an A Hole expect a ticket and if you assault them expect to be arrested. If you are polite expect to have them be polite back to you and maybe give you a warning or nothing.
